69.1% of UAE children aged 6 to 17 are vitamin D deficient, according to the MoHAP National Health and Nutrition Survey 2024–25.

Surprisingly, the reported rate is higher among children than adults. In a country with abundant sunshine and greater likelihood of children being exposed to it, it is a finding that deserves attention. It is also a reminder that important health concerns in children may not always be visible in the classroom or home.
