Fidgeting & Stimming, explained in 30 seconds:
Fidgeting or stimming is any repeated movement or sound that helps someone regulate - rocking, tapping, humming, clicking a pen, picking at something. Lots of autistic people and people with ADHD stim. So do plenty of other people (hello, leg-bouncers).
It’s not a bad habit. It’s often how a brain calms down, focuses, or handles a lot at once. The goal isn’t to stop it. It’s to give it a safe, comfortable outlet.
That’s where we come in.
Save this for the next time someone asks ‘why do they do that?’
