Your child isn’t giving you a hard time. They’re having a hard time. ❤️

When our little ones melt down, they’re not being naughty. They’re overwhelmed. Children learn to calm by borrowing our calm first.

Swipe for four gentle steps:
1. Steady yourself first
2. Name the feeling
3. Connect before you correct
4. Repair and reconnect

I know from my own family how hard this is in the moment, especially when you’re running on empty yourself. You don’t have to get it right every time. Coming back and trying again is what matters most. 🌿

Share this with a parent who needs it today.

What would you say to a friend who was struggling right now? ❤️‍🩹

Now say it to yourself. That’s the self-compassion U-turn.

So often we’re our own harshest critic. We would never speak to someone we love the way we speak to ourselves on a hard day.

Try this with me:
🤍 Place a hand on your heart
🤍 Notice: “This is hard.”
🤍 Remember: “I’m not alone in this.”
🤍 Ask: “What do I need right now?”

As parents and carers, we pour so much kindness into everyone else. You deserve some of that kindness too, especially from yourself.

Save this for a hard day, and share it with someone who’s too hard on themselves.💖

1 in 6 Australians experienced an anxiety disorder in the past year ❤️

That makes it the most common mental health condition in Australia. So if anxiety is part of your life, or your child’s, you are far from alone.

Anxiety isn’t a flaw or a weakness. It’s your nervous system working overtime to keep you safe. And with the right support, it can ease.

As an autism mum, I know how often anxiety sits quietly in our homes, in our kids and in ourselves. Small daily practices like slow breathing, grounding and gentle movement really can help your body feel safe again.

“I’m fine.” How often do we say it when there’s something much more specific underneath? 🌿

When we can find the right word for a feeling, we understand ourselves better, we can explain what’s going on to the people around us, and we can choose what we actually need.

Swipe through for some feeling words to try, and a simple 1-minute check-in:

1. What am I feeling right now?
2. Where do I feel it in my body?
3. How strong is it, from 1 to 10?
4. What might have brought it on?

There are no good or bad feelings. Every one of them is information. ❤️

This is a lovely one to do with kids too. Ask “Where do you feel it in your body?” when big feelings show up. It helps them learn that feelings have names, and that they pass.

Save this for your daily check-in this week.

Mind racing ahead or drifting away? Come back to right now. 🌿

This is one of my favourite grounding practices, and one I use with clients. Take a slow breath, then gently name:

👀 5 things you can see
✋ 4 things you can touch
👂 3 things you can hear
👃 2 things you can smell
👅 1 thing you can taste

Say them out loud if you can, and take your time with each one. Notice the colours, textures and little details. Anxiety pulls us into the future, but this brings you back to the present moment, where you’re safe.

It’s a lovely one for kids too. Turn it into a game on the way to school or when big feelings start to rise. ❤️

Save this for the next time your thoughts start to spiral.

Today is World Mental Health Day. ❤️

One of the most powerful things you can do today is simply check in on someone. You don’t need the perfect words or all the answers. You just need to ask, and really listen.

Swipe through for five gentle steps:

1. Notice: changes in mood, sleep or energy, or someone pulling away
2. Ask: “How are you really going?”
3. Listen: without rushing to fix or judge
4. Encourage support: offer to help them find a GP, counsellor or support line
5. Check back in: a text a few days later means more than you’d think

As parents and carers, we’re often the ones checking on everyone else. So today, let someone check on you too. 🌿

Send this to a friend you’ve been thinking about.

Need to talk now? Call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636. In an emergency, call 000.

Feeling overwhelmed? Give yourself a butterfly hug. 🦋

1. Cross your hands over your chest, fingertips resting just below your collarbones
2. Hook your thumbs together so your hands become butterfly wings
3. Gently tap with your fingertips, left then right
4. Breathe in slowly for four taps, then breathe out for four taps

Keep going for a minute or two. That slow side-to-side rhythm, paired with gentle breathing, is deeply soothing for your nervous system. It’s simple, quiet, and you can do it anywhere, even sitting in the car before school pick-up.

It’s a beautiful one to teach kids too. Many little ones love turning their hands into butterfly wings when big feelings take over. 💚

Save this for the next hard moment, and share it with a parent who might need it.
