For more than three decades, Ewen has dedicated himself to caring for the Emerald community, bringing healthcare closer to home and supporting the next generation of rural doctors.

This well-deserved recognition reflects his commitment to our patients, our team and the wider Central Highlands community. His passion for rural healthcare has made a lasting difference to so many people.

Congratulations to A/Prof Ewen McPhee from Queensland - awarded ACRRM’s 2026 National Outstanding Contribution to Rural Practice Management Award.

A Rural Generalist Obstetrician and Practice Principal, Ewen has served the Emerald community since the early 1990s. His career has combined broad clinical practice with practice development, medical education and national rural health advocacy.

Under his leadership, Emerald Medical Group has expanded access to visiting specialists, allied health, diagnostic services and community health education.

Approximately 64% of people who menstruate in Australia have struggled to afford period products at some point, with many forced to improvise with unsuitable alternatives, according to the 2024 Bloody Big Survey by Share the Dignity. Check out their website to learn more!
