Ever heard one of these before?

🎯 Bad Advice Bingo

⬜ "You just need to think positive."
⬜ "Everyone gets anxious."
⬜ "Have you tried making a list?"
⬜ "You don't look disabled."
⬜ "Just push through."
⬜ "You'll grow out of it."
⬜ "You're too young to be in pain."
⬜ "You're just being lazy."
⬜ "Everyone has bad days."
⬜ "You just need more motivation."

While these comments are often well-intentioned, they can leave people feeling misunderstood and unheard.

Sometimes the most helpful response isn't advice at all.

Sometimes it's simply...

💙 "I'm here."
💙 "That sounds really hard."
💙 "How can I support you?"

What's something you've heard that should be added to the Bingo card?

REAL TALK THURSDAYS
Getting ready felt impossible today.
Not because they didn’t want to… but because everything felt too much.

Support looked like:
✔ Slowing things right down
✔ Removing pressure
✔ Focusing on just the next step
✔ Celebrating simply getting out the door

Some days, that’s the win. 🌿

We don't believe disability support is about completing a checklist.

It's about helping people build the life they want.

One that's meaningful.

Connected.

Independent.

And filled with opportunities.

That's what motivates us every single day.

Thank you to every participant, family member and professional who trusts Together Horizons to be part of that journey.

Real Talk

Healing isn't always obvious.

It isn't always the big breakthroughs or the moments that everyone notices.

Sometimes healing looks like cancelling plans because you need to rest.

Sometimes it looks like saying "no" without feeling guilty.

Sometimes it means stepping away from people or situations that leave you feeling drained.

And sometimes, healing is simply choosing yourself for once.

If you're living with anxiety, depression, trauma or psychosocial disability, you don't have to prove your strength by pushing through every day.

Real strength is recognising what you need and giving yourself permission to honour it.

At Together Horizons, we believe recovery isn't about becoming someone different.

It's about creating a life where you feel safe, supported and able to move forward at your own pace.

If today is a day for rest, let it be a day for rest.

The world can wait.

A friendly smile.

Remembering someone's favourite coffee.

Checking in after a difficult appointment.

Celebrating a goal they've worked hard towards.

Sometimes it's the smallest gestures that remind someone they matter.

Kindness is never wasted.

Real Talk

Some days, getting out of bed is the biggest achievement.

Not because you're lazy.
Not because you're unmotivated.
But because you're carrying a weight that nobody else can see.

Living with anxiety, depression, trauma or psychosocial disability can make everyday tasks feel overwhelming.

And that's okay.

Progress doesn't always look like ticking off a long to-do list.
Sometimes progress is simply:
💚 Getting out of bed.
💚 Having a shower.
💚 Eating something.
💚 Asking for help.
💚 Taking one small step.

At Together Horizons, we know that healing isn't a straight line. We don't expect perfection - we celebrate progress, no matter how small it might seem.

If today felt hard, we hope this reminds you to be kind to yourself.

Tomorrow is another opportunity.
And you don't have to walk through it alone.

Progress isn't a race.

Some goals happen in weeks.

Others take months.

Some take years.

That's okay.

Every person's journey is different.

We're here for the whole journey - not just the easy parts.

One step at a time.

Sometimes people don't need advice.

They need someone who genuinely listens.

To hear their concerns.

Celebrate their wins.

Sit with them during the hard days.

Being heard can be incredibly powerful.

It's something we never take for granted.
