💚 National Carers Week | 11–17 October 2026 💚

Some of the most incredible acts of love happen quietly, every single day, without recognition or reward.

Behind so many people living with disability, chronic illness or additional care needs is someone who gives so much of themselves to care for the person they love.

It's the sleepless nights, endless appointments, constant worry and countless sacrifices that often go unseen.

For many unpaid carers, there is no clocking off, no weekends and no real break. They simply keep showing up, day after day, because someone they love needs them.

At Hunter Ability Support, we see firsthand just how much families and loved ones give of themselves.

This National Carers Week, we want to recognise those who spend so much of their lives caring for others.

From all of us at Hunter Ability Support, we see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you. 💚

💚 LOCAL FOOD SUPPORT | MAITLAND 💚

Sometimes, a little extra support can make everyday life that bit easier.

Across the Maitland community, there are a number of local services providing practical food support, including food hampers, pantry staples, fresh groceries and free community meals. 🥕🥫🍲

We’ve brought some of these local options together in one place, helping connect our community with the services and resources available nearby.

Because a strong community is one where we look out for one another. 💚

International Day of Sign Languages 🤟 23 September

Communication is about more than words.. it’s about being heard, understood and included.

Today, we celebrate sign languages and the important role they play in connection, identity and belonging for Deaf people and communities around the world.

Today is a reminder to keep learning, keep listening and continue creating spaces where everyone belongs. 🤟💚

World Sepsis Day | 13 September ❤️

Sepsis is a life-threatening medical emergency that occurs when the body’s response to an infection begins to damage its own tissues and organs.
It can affect anyone, and recognising the signs and seeking urgent medical care can save lives.

This World Sepsis Day, the 2026 theme “Invest in Sepsis – Save Lives” highlights the importance of greater awareness, prevention, early recognition and timely treatment.

Knowing the signs matters. If you suspect sepsis, seek urgent medical attention.

September is FASD Awareness Month ❤️

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a lifelong disability that can affect each person differently, including learning, communication, memory, emotional regulation and everyday life.

FASD Awareness Month is an opportunity to increase understanding, reduce stigma and recognise the importance of providing the right support for individuals and families.

A little more awareness can help create more inclusive, understanding and supportive communities. ❤️

What matters to you? 💚

Sometimes the most important conversations are the ones we tend to put off.

Talking about your wishes, the people you trust and what’s important to you can help make sure your voice is heard, now and into the future.

It doesn’t have to be a big conversation. Sometimes, simply starting is enough. 💬
