Ruth is back on the payroll! 😂👩‍🍳

After 3 weeks battling digestive health issues, surgery and iron infusions, I’m finally making progress. ❤️‍🩹

Today I’m back meal prepping and creating delicious food that fits my anti-inflammatory diet. 💪🥗🐟

Today I’m honouring the memory of Dolly the only way that feels right — leaving my house in full Dolly style: bling, sparkle and ALL the colour. 💎✨🌈

Her portrait tattoo will live with me forever, a permanent reminder to never give up, even when the road gets hard.

Dolly was a woman of faith — giving, forgiving, ambitious, caring, incredibly business-minded and larger than life. She lived boldly, worked incredibly hard and gave so much back to others. And yes… behind the big b***s, big hair and rhinestones was an even bigger heart. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has messaged me today because you knew how much Dolly meant to me. Every message has touched my heart. 💕

And the more I think about it, the less I want today to simply be sad. This incredible woman worked hard her entire life, lived a life full of purpose, love, faith and colour — and now I like to imagine her off on her rhinestone wings ✨🪽💎, reunited with the love of her life, her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean. ❤️

Your music may stop, but what you gave the world never will.

Dolly, my idol, I will always love you. ❤️

“If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one.”
And whenever I feel like giving up, I’ll look at my tattoo and keep paving mine. 💕✨

🐳 “OMG, YOU LOOK LIKE A WHALE.”

June 2018.

I posted that first photo on Facebook.

Not long after, I received a message from someone I considered a friend:

“OMG, you look like a whale 🐳.”

It hurt.

Not because being a certain size makes anyone less worthy — size has never defined the person you are — but because those words came from someone I thought was my friend.

Instead of attacking her back, I said:

“When you come back from holidays, why don’t we do something together? Let’s join a gym, start walking, eat better and encourage each other.”

YES! YES! YES! she said.

So we joined a challenge together.

I showed up.

Every. Single. Day.

Some days I struggled.
Some days I couldn’t even do up my own shoelaces.
Some days people laughed. 🤭

But I kept showing up.

Halfway through the challenge, she quit.

I DIDN’T.

I finished that first challenge 12 kg lighter, but what I gained was worth far more than what I lost.

I discovered commitment. Discipline. Consistency. Self-respect.

I learned that motivation might get you through the door, but commitment is what keeps you walking through it when nobody is clapping for you.

Fast-forward 8 YEARS.

That woman who couldn’t tie her shoelaces became the woman in these photos. 💪🔥

I didn’t just lose weight.

I changed my lifestyle.
I changed my relationship with food.
I became strong.
I competed. 🏅
I ran 10 km. 🏃‍♀️
I learned to nourish my body.
And most importantly, I learned what I am capable of when I refuse to give up on myself.

So yes… I remember the 🐳 comment.

But today it doesn’t hurt me.

It reminds me how far I’ve come.

To anyone starting at the beginning: don’t worry about who laughs, who quits, who doubts you or who doesn’t come along for the whole journey.

KEEP SHOWING UP.

Eight years from now, you might look back at the person you are today and say:

“Thank God I didn’t quit.” ❤️🙏

The 🐳 didn’t disappear.
She learned how to swim.
Then she became bloody unstoppable. 🔥💪😂

💚 Finding restaurants that understand food allergies is like finding gold.

If you follow an anti-inflammatory lifestyle like I do, you’ll know that eating out can be stressful. I often find myself wondering:
“Will there actually be something I can eat?” or “Am I going to feel sick afterwards?”

Today’s gym? The Maltese kitchen! 😂🇲🇹

Spent the day making traditional Maltese biscuits and ravioli with my beautiful friend Carmen… for my family. ❤️

As much as I love the tradition, these treats aren’t part of my anti-inflammatory lifestyle, so I enjoyed making them without eating them.

And yes… that’s flour all over my custom compression leggings! 🤣

Standing in one spot for hours means my compression stays on. Lipedema doesn’t take a day off—even in the kitchen. 💗👩‍🍳

Standing for hours = compression is non-negotiable! 💪👖🍪
