🎃 For those celebrating Halloween, let’s make it welcoming and inclusive for everyone knocking on our doors.

For some autistic children:

💛 Eye contact can feel uncomfortable or overwhelming.
💛 Speaking or saying “trick or treat” may be difficult. Some communicate through gestures, pictures or a communication device.
💛 Costumes can feel itchy, restrictive or overwhelming because of sensory sensitivities.
💛 Unfamiliar people, sounds and decorations may mean they need a little extra time.

They can still be excited to join in, even if they show it differently.

Offer a smile, be patient and welcome them as they are—without expecting words, eye contact or a costume.

Be accepting. Be kind. Every child deserves respect, inclusion and the chance to enjoy Halloween in their own way. 🌻

🌻 Invisible Disabilities Week 🌻

You can’t always see the anxiety behind a smile, the sensory overload during an outing, or the exhaustion that follows an everyday task.

Autism, ADHD, mental health conditions, chronic pain and many other disabilities can be invisible. Someone may seem “fine” while working incredibly hard to get through their day.

At Empowered to Bloom, we take the time to listen, understand and shape support around each person’s choices, comfort and goals. Everyone deserves to feel believed, respected and supported—without having to prove their challenges.

💜 Ask rather than assume.
💜 Offer patience rather than judgement.
💜 Remember that someone’s needs can change from day to day.

You don’t have to see a disability to respect it. 🌸

🌸 Everyone deserves to feel heard, valued and supported.

I’m Rachel, founder of Empowered to Bloom Disability Support Services and a mum to an autistic child who also lives with ADHD, PDA, severe anxiety and OCD.

My own family’s journey has given me a deep understanding of how much it means to have someone listen, understand and stand beside you. It’s the heart behind Empowered to Bloom. 💜

Alongside my lived experience, I bring extensive professional experience supporting children and young people, including those in out-of-home care, through respite, mentoring and community support.

Our caring team brings lived and professional experience, kindness and patience to the support we provide for children, young people and adults.

With us, you’re never just a number. Your voice matters. Your choices matter. We take the time to understand your interests, strengths and goals, and what helps you feel safe to be yourself.

Whether you need support at home, a helping hand in the community or encouragement to try something new, we strive to help you build confidence, grow your independence and reach your full potential—in your own way, at your own pace. 🌿

💜🌸 To all our beautiful neurodiverse kids and their families as a new school term begins… 🌸💜

Wishing each and every one of you a happy, positive and gentle start to the new term! ❤️

Whether you're returning to mainstream school, special school, modified learning, Open Access or homeschooling, every child's journey is unique and deserves to be celebrated.

And to those beautiful kids who simply can't manage school or learning right now, that's okay too. 💜

Your journey is uniquely yours. There is no rush, no timeline to follow. You will continue to grow, learn and bloom in your own beautiful way, at your own pace. 🌷

And to our amazing parents and carers, this message is for you too. ❤️

As a mum who has experienced firsthand the heartache, anxiety and challenges of navigating education with a neurodiverse child, I know just how overwhelming this time can be.

The worry, the sleepless nights, the advocating, the battles and simply hoping that your child will be understood, accepted and supported.

Please remember to be kind and patient with yourselves too. 💕

Celebrate the little wins, give yourselves grace on the difficult days, and remember that sometimes just getting through the day is an achievement in itself.

To our beautiful kids, you are amazing exactly as you are. You deserve to feel safe, valued, understood and supported, wherever and however you learn. 💜

And to every parent sitting with a worried heart today, please know you're not alone.

We may all be walking different paths, but we're here for each other, to listen, encourage, support and remind one another that we understand. ❤️

🌸 From all of us at Empowered to Bloom Disability Support Services, wishing you a gentle and positive start to the term.

🌸 IF THIS IS WHAT SUPPORT LOOKS LIKE… WE’VE HAD A PRETTY AMAZING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS! 💚😂

Sunshine, beach days, water fights, Bunnings adventures, furniture building… and apparently protecting the support worker from lizards is now part of the job description! 🦎🤣
Luckily, I was the ONLY one terrified!

These holidays have been SO much fun! 🌊☀️💦🔨

From beach play and water adventures, to shopping trips, building furniture, exploring the community and making the most of this absolutely beautiful weather — there have been plenty of laughs and some fantastic moments along the way.

But the best part? 💚

Watching everyone get out into the community, doing things they enjoy, trying different experiences, building confidence and simply having fun and being themselves.

Because at Empowered to Bloom, support isn't just about ticking boxes.

It’s about connection.
It’s about experiences.
It’s about confidence.
It’s about creating opportunities to get out there, have fun and BLOOM in your own way. 🌸

What a fantastic couple of weeks — and the days certainly turned on the weather for us! ☀️💚

🌱💜 EMPOWERED TO BLOOM IS 1! 💜🌱

Today marks one whole year of Empowered to Bloom Disability Support Services, and what an incredible year it has been.

When I started Empowered to Bloom, I wanted to create something that felt different. As a mum with lived experience, I knew how important it was for people and families to find support that was genuinely personal, consistent and caring — where participants were seen as people first, not just another shift on a roster.

What started as an idea and a passion to do things better has grown into a beautiful little team of people who share those same values.

Over the past 12 months there have been so many adventures, laughs, challenges, achievements and proud moments. We've watched people step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, develop independence, try new things and achieve things that may once have felt impossible.

And we've bloomed right alongside them. 🌸

To every participant and family who has trusted Empowered to Bloom to be part of your journey — thank you. That trust means more to me than I can put into words.

To my amazing team — thank you for bringing your kindness, experience, personalities and hearts to what you do. I'm incredibly proud of the support we provide and the team we are becoming.

And to everyone who has recommended us, shared our posts, passed on our details, encouraged me or supported the business over this first year — thank you. 💜

One year ago, Empowered to Bloom was just beginning.

Today, we're growing, learning and creating something I'm incredibly proud of — while still holding onto the reason it all began:

🌱 Supporting people to build confidence, independence and connection.
🌱 Celebrating people for exactly who they are.
🌱 Providing support with dignity, choice and genuine care.
🌱 Helping every person we support have the opportunity to bloom in their own way.

Happy 1st Birthday, Empowered to Bloom! 🎂🌸

Here's to everything we've achieved in our first year — and to all the blooming still to come. 💜🌱

💙 Happy Father’s Day from Empowered to Bloom 💙

Today we celebrate all the dads, grandads, pops and stepdads — but we also want to recognise all the incredible people who step into that special role in someone’s life.

To the mums doing the job of both Mum and Dad, the carers and support people, the uncles, brothers, family friends, mentors and those wonderful people who simply choose to show up and be a positive father figure and role model in a child or young person’s life — thank you. 💙

Being a father figure isn’t always about biology or a title. Sometimes it’s simply about being the person who is there. The one who listens, encourages, teaches, protects, believes in them and stands beside them through everything.

And on a personal note, I want to say a very special Happy Father’s Day to my amazing Dad. 💙

My Dad is my rock, one of my biggest supporters and a huge inspiration behind why I do what I do.

When autism became part of our family's journey, Dad didn't just stand on the sidelines. He took it upon himself to learn. He has taught himself so much about autism so that he could better understand, support and be there for both my son and me.

He has embraced my son for exactly who he is, taken the time to understand his world, and continues to be such an incredible source of love, patience, strength and support for our little family.

Watching the relationship he has with my son and knowing that we always have him in our corner means more to me than I could ever put into words. He has shown me what it truly means to show up for the people you love — and that is something I try to carry into Empowered to Bloom every single day.

So today, to my Dad and to every person who chooses to show up, learn, understand, guide, encourage and love…

🌱 Thank you for showing up.
🌱 Thank you for caring.
🌱 Thank you for making a difference.

From our Empowered to Bloom family to yours, Happy Father’s Day. 💙🌻
