Yoga is still on TOMORROW, however, next Sunday there will be no Yoga.

As I am representing Team Australia at the Invictus Australia Sports Festival in Scarborough, next weekend.

Yoga with Karney will be holding a free public yoga class on the grass area at Scarborough Beach on Saturday 24th October at 6am. Please bring any equipment you may require.

As I teach in my classes, movement is medicine and making it adaptable and accessible for all is important.

So please share so others are aware.

If you would like to come and support Team Australia, which yogi Craig Thorogood has also made the team, please jump onto the Invictus Australia website ( Invictus Australia Sports Festival 2026 - Invictus Australia https://share.google/qtaKj7gZR0wA0ymFr) and secure your free tickets.

Craig and I will be competing in the 1 and 4 minute indoor rowing sprint, and we are partners for the indoor rowing relay which will be occuring on Saturday morning.

Sunday we will be competing in pickleball and sitting volleyball.

There is also swimming events and a community sports day for the public, if you wish to join. πŸ™πŸ©·

As most of you would know, Yoga with Karney raises money for Working Paws Australia.

Working Paws Australia was started by ex SAS dog handler Ryan Wilson, and RAAF dog handler Jase Kelly, to raise money to support Veteran K9's in their retirement years.

Once these military working dogs are no longer fit for service, they are no longer financially supported by the Australian Government. They become 100% financially dependent on their owner, who are generally Veterans themselves.

For the first time, Working Paws Australia have run out of funds and are calling for donations.

We are working with the opposition to bring this issue up in parliament whilst they're sitting, as these K9's have served. They have saved Australian lives. Therefore, they deserve to be looked after in their retirement years.

Thank you to anyone who has donated can's and/or money, it's very much appreciated.

We never leave our brothers or sisters behind, this includes our K9s. πŸ™πŸ©·πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸΎπŸŽ—

THE MOSQUITO THEORY: What I teach in my yoga classes.

When we become aware of a negative thought, treat it like a mosquito.

When a mosquito lands on you, you dont give the mosquito time to bite you. Because we know if we allow that mosquito to bit us, not only will it hurt, it will become itchy and it will make us scratch the bitten area which leads to swelling and possible infection.

This will encourage more negative thoughts. With each mosquito we allow to bite us, we are increasing the risk of getting vector borne diseases such as dangue fever and Ross River virus, to name a few.

Instead, as soon as we notice a mosquito come in contact with us, we squash it. We kill it. So treat our negative thoughts like a mosquito.

In time, you may prevent yourself from being exposed to mosquito's by wearing long pants and shirts, by having mosquito zappers near by etc.

Eventually, you may remove yourself from environments where you know you will come in contact with mosquito's.

This doesnt mean you avoid the mosquito's, because in reality, mosquito's are everywhere. However, you better prepare yourself if you know you're going to be outside in an environment where you may find mosquito's. Or, you move your entertainment inside, into a safer environment where the mosquito's are less likely to be.

Noticing negative thoughts is a journey. Just like anything else in life, you will struggle and get bitten a few times. However, treat each bite as a reminder to do what you can to stop further mosquito's from biting you.

THROWBACK to an online yoga session I filmed 3 months ago.

If you only watch the first 5 minutes, you will see first hand how my service dog, Pascoe is reacting to me.

Pascoe is able to sense that my nervous system is unregulated and therefore is doing what he has been trained to do.

Within 5 minutes of 'stretching amd breathing', you will notice that Pascoe relaxes and lays down behind me.

Pascoe is still there to react if needed, however Pascoe is providing me comfort as he literally has my back.

For those who experience heightened hypervigilance will understand the benefits of having Pascoe in this position.

The unconditional love and support service dogs, or any animal provide is absolutely priceless!

This practice includes some light stretching on the yoga mat, inclu...

Yoga with Karney supports Working Paws Australia. After today's yoga class, another carload of can's were cashed in, to add to the Working Paws Australia tin.

Thank you to Senator Jess Collins for your passionate question today Question Time.

It was lovely to see a Senator angry at what the Minister of Veterans Affairs is proposing and the Prime Minister supporting it.

Please share so we can maintain the momentum for our Veterans & their familes. πŸ™πŸ©·πŸŽ—πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

This is why I teach trauma sensitive & adaptive yoga.

I served 11 years in the Royal Australian Navy as a medic & as a result I have PTSD along with physical injuries.

Everyday I struggle with my physical & mental injuries from my service & generational trauma of war service.

I have been fortunate enough to fly to Canberra to speak about:
● Scrapping this $5K cap that the Australian Labor Government have proposed,
● Continue to let Veterans see the GP's & Specialist we have a relationship,
● Investigate the Department of Veterans Affairs & rebuild it as bandaid fixes arent working.

For the Veterans & their families who feel their voices are not being heard, we are fighting!

Today, I along with a group of Veterans spent 12 hours at Parliament House attending back to back meetings with Ministers, Senators & Members of Parliament. Telling every single one of them our stories & the stories of those we know & how detrimental it is for this Cap To Be Scrapped!

We will be back again tomorrow before flying out tomorrow night, getting in around 11pm... in time for Wednesday's yoga class.

Rockingham is home to the second largest Veteran population in this country & home to the largest Navy base. We are hurting & have been for a long time- hence why I started teaching my style of yoga- to save lives!

So please, share to your networks to both educate the public & to let Veterans & their families that we are fighting for our brothers & sisters.

Veterans don't have a union, so we are representing ourselves. Even though we have physical & mental injuries, we are fighting! We cant afford to lose anymore lives, too many have already been lost.

Veterans Supporting Veterans- thats where the true magic is! πŸ™πŸ©·πŸŽ—πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί
