Week 37
Doing well with our doses
Loving the peanuts in coconut yoghurt 🤭
Waiting to transition into real eggs 🤩
Lots of learning and realisations as we go through this journey, we are truly grateful for all of you who continuously support and check on Gianna’s progress. OIT is overwhelming, it sounds so easy to do- give her little amount of allergens and monitor; but it’s more than what you see. We post updates weekly, but there are days when we have setbacks, moments when I have the epiPen ready to go, checking her whole body for hives and flares, saying NO to a good morning play due to possible reaction, cancelling or postponing events to let her rest and recover, staying home with one parent to prioritise her health…our world revolves around Gianna, the time to go out of the house, a simple shopping trip, a play in the park, attending events-it all depends on her current situation. We want her to feel included but we don’t want to force her to be out there when her body is still desensitising and adjusting…and I guess this is where it mostly hurts as there will always be someone who will tell you that you are making Gianna miss out on all the good things. “Oh my, but why?”, “I thought she’s doing well, why can’t she come?”, “Just for today”… and there will always be someone who kept asking what we are actually doing (OIT) even after explaining it over and over….
We can miss out on a few good stuff at this stage, but we are looking forward to more beautiful moments to come…Right now, it’s to keep her safe and let her adjust in the best possible way. Take it slow, God prepared a better place for us 💕
