You usually see Matthew behind the pharmacy counter… but this Saturday, you’ll find him behind a guitar.

Matthew and his brothers are playing live at Hornsby RSL Club. They don’t often play this side of Sydney, so it’s a lovely chance to enjoy some music, say hello and see your local community pharmacist off duty.

They play music for every generation, so bring your friends and make a night of it!

A lot of locals don’t realise this service can be FREE for eligible patients.

MedsCheck and Diabetes MedsCheck are one-on-one consultations with your pharmacist, designed to help you better understand and manage your medicines.

We’ll go through the medicines you’re taking, talk through any questions or concerns, and provide you with a medication profile and action plan you can keep and share with your healthcare team.

And for eligible patients, there’s no cost.

Spring cleaning the house? There’s one cupboard that’s easy to forget.

Your medicine cabinet deserves a spring clean too.

Here’s a quick check:

✅ Check the expiry dates, including the things that look perfectly fine
✅ Check that labels are still clear and readable
✅ Look for anything that seems different in appearance
✅ Check the storage instructions on the pack, heat and moisture can affect some medicines
✅ Make sure medicines are stored safely and out of reach of children
✅ Set aside anything expired or you no longer need

And before you reach for the bin…

Expired and unwanted medicines shouldn’t go in your household rubbish or down the sink or toilet.

Bring them into the pharmacy instead. Through the Return Unwanted Medicines program, they can be disposed of safely and at no cost to you.

So while you’re spring cleaning, add one more cupboard to the list.

Send this to the person doing the weekend clean-out with you.

Did you know your local pharmacist may be able to help with an Absence from Work Certificate?

If you’re unwell and need evidence for time away from work, our pharmacists can assess you and, where appropriate, provide a certificate.

It’s always a good idea to check with your employer first to make sure they accept certificates issued by a pharmacist.

Remember, remember, remember…

Matt’s pretty good at reminding everyone to support their local pharmacy.

But apparently, we forgot to mention something.
Supporting local goes both ways.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support this community has given West Pymble Pharmacy over the years, and supporting local clubs, fundraisers and community initiatives is one of the ways we get to give a little of that support back.
