What happens when the life you've worked so hard to build no longer feels like the life you want to live?

It's a conversation I believe we need to have more often, especially as women move through midlife.

Because sometimes we reach a point where, on paper, everything looks perfectly fine.

We've built careers, raised families, nurtured relationships, navigated challenges, and become incredibly capable along the way.

Yet something has shifted. The things that once fulfilled us don't necessarily feel the same. The roles we've carried begin to feel restrictive. And that familiar ability to push through and keep everything moving doesn't quite satisfy us anymore.

It can be unsettling to question a life we've invested so much of ourselves in.

But perhaps that questioning isn't a sign that everything needs to fall apart.

Perhaps it's an invitation to discover what genuinely fits the woman we are today.

This is part of what we explored a few weeks ago in Episode 1 of the SacredSHE Reset Podcast — the changing landscape of midlife, identity, and what it means to begin listening to ourselves differently.

There comes a point in life when we realise we cannot build a meaningful outer life while continually abandoning ourselves on the inside.

That is why I love this reminder:

You must first BE who you really are, then DO what you need to do, in order to HAVE what you want.

So many of us were taught the reverse.

Do more.
Prove more.
Achieve more.
Then perhaps you'll finally feel enough.

But midlife has a way of inviting a different order.

To let our choices, our work, our relationships, and the life we are creating grow from a truer place.

I think that is part of the deeper invitation of this season:

less performing, more belonging
less proving, more being
less self-abandonment, more self-trust

Perhaps the question is not only what do I want next?

Perhaps it is:

Who am I being as I create it? ❤️

A little midlife mischief, anyone? 😂📚

Apparently, I've reached that wonderful age where a good bookshop can be more exciting than a night out!

Give me a stack of books, a cosy corner, and the freedom to lose myself for a few hours, and I'm one happy woman.

But here's the thing about midlife I'm loving more and more...

We're allowed to enjoy what we enjoy. No explanations, no apologies, and certainly no need to be sensible all the time!

Whether it's books, shoes, chocolate, dancing around the kitchen, or something a little more cheeky 😉, pleasure deserves a place in our lives.

So, come on, ladies... what's your guilty pleasure? Although I reckon we should retire the guilty part altogether!

And if you're in Panama, tell me where you're finding your book bargains! 😂

What happens when the woman everyone depends on starts asking what she wants?

It's an interesting question, isn't it?

Many of us have spent years becoming incredibly good at being needed.

We're the ones who manage, organise, anticipate, support, and somehow find a way to make things work.

And there's nothing inherently wrong with that. Our ability to care, contribute and show up for others can be a beautiful part of who we are.

But somewhere along the way, being capable can become more than something we do. It becomes who we believe we have to be.

We get so accustomed to being the dependable one that we rarely stop to consider whether the roles we're fulfilling still reflect the women we are today.

And this is where I think midlife offers us something rather extraordinary.

An opportunity to question the expectations we've inherited, the habits we've formed, and the identities we've become comfortable living inside.

Not because everything we've built is wrong. But because we're allowed to grow beyond the roles that once defined us.

Perhaps that restlessness we sometimes experience isn't a sign that we need to start over, but it's rather a quiet longing for more room. Room for our own preferences. Our creativity. Our voice. Our enjoyment. The parts of ourselves that haven't always had a place at the table.

This is part of what I call The Sacred Threshold, a time when we begin to consider not only who we've been, but how we want to live the years ahead.

And sometimes the shift begins with one small, meaningful choice. Saying yes because you genuinely want to, rather than because it's expected.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

What are you making more room for in this chapter of your life? ❤️

Save this for a moment when you need the reminder, or share it with a woman who's always been the one everyone relies on.

When did simply showing up stop feeling like enough?

As I sit here preparing for several days in Orlando, I'm noticing something in myself.

I'm excited about the people I'll meet, the conversations I'll have, and the possibilities of what might unfold.

Yet alongside that excitement, I notice an old familiar pattern creeping in. That urge to make every moment count, meet the right people, and make something happen.

I smile to myself..... there she is again. An older version of me, reminding me that some habits take time to unlearn.

I wonder how many of us recognise her?

For some of us, that drive began long before we had businesses to build or careers to navigate.

Perhaps we grew up being praised for what we achieved rather than simply who we were. Being helpful, capable, or agreeable helped us feel valued, accepted, or safe.

And those ways of being may have served us beautifully. They helped us become resourceful, resilient, independent women.

But there's a question I find myself returning to in midlife.

At what point does the desire to contribute become the pressure to prove?

I think that's where the deeper work begins.

Not in criticising ourselves for old habits, but in recognising the ways we've learned to seek our worth from the outside in.

Awareness doesn't mean those patterns disappear. Sometimes it simply creates enough room to notice them and choose differently.

So as I head into this next adventure, I'm setting myself a different intention.

To be curious rather than constantly strategic. To enjoy conversations without needing to know where they'll lead. To be seen and heard without feeling responsible for what everyone thinks.

And to remember that my presence has value, even when it produces absolutely nothing.

Perhaps this is part of what midlife invites us to discover.

We don't always need to become someone new.

Sometimes we simply need to give ourselves permission to be who we already are. ❤️

Big love from Panama x

Apparently, launching a podcast also means creating a small collection of moments that definitely didn't make the final cut. 😂

A little behind-the-scenes glimpse from recording my first Episode of the Sacred SHE Reset Podcast

Because while the conversations are meaningful, the recording process isn't always quite so graceful.

And I actually love that.

Something is refreshing about letting people see the human behind the microphone — the pauses, the stumbles, the laughter, and the moments where the words simply refuse to cooperate.

The podcast itself is where we go deeper.

Into midlife.

Into identity.

Into the body.

Into the stories we’ve outgrown.

Into the wisdom, vitality, and voice that can emerge when we stop treating this season as a decline and start meeting it as an awakening.

If that sounds like your kind of conversation, come and listen to the Sacred SHE Reset Podcast

Not who do you need to become.
Not who would impress everyone.
Not who would make you more successful, productive, acceptable, or easy to understand.
But underneath the roles…
the responsibility…
the adaptation…
the expectations…
the identities you've worn for so long they almost feel like skin…
who is emerging?
You don't need to have an answer.
Some questions are not meant to be solved immediately.
They are meant to accompany us.
Sit with this one today:
Who am I becoming beneath everything I've learned to carry?
And notice what stirs.

Big love ❤️

Behind SacredSHE Reset Podcast is something very personal for me.
For years, I navigated enormous changes in my body, identity, and life while trying to make sense of what was happening.
There were things I didn't know how to ask.
Things women weren't really talking about.
And experiences that were often reduced to symptoms when, for me, there was also something much deeper unfolding.
My priorities were changing.
My body was changing.
My relationships with ambition, success, health, femininity, sexuality, purpose, and even myself were changing.

And gradually one question became more important than all the others:
Who am I becoming now?

That question eventually became part of the heart of SacredSHE Reset.
And now it has become the heartbeat of this podcast.
I'm not interested in conversations where someone sits on one side of the microphone pretending to have life perfectly figured out.
I want the conversations underneath the polished answers.
The ones about what it really means to inhabit a changing body.
To find your voice.
To navigate intimacy.
To begin again.
To reclaim joy.
To question the rules women inherit about ageing.
To discover that wisdom doesn't always arrive neatly packaged.
Sometimes it arrives after everything familiar has stopped fitting.
That's what we'll explore here.
Woman to woman.
Human to human.
Curious rather than certain.
And I cannot wait to welcome you into the conversation.

One of the strangest parts of midlife is realising that an identity can still look perfectly good from the outside…
And no longer feel like home on the inside.
You may still be the capable one.
The dependable one.
The mother.
The partner.
The professional.
The business owner.
The organiser.
The woman who knows how to keep everything moving.
And yet something underneath all of those identities begins stirring.

Is this still who I am?

For many women, that question can feel frightening.
We have spent decades becoming somebody.
Building lives.
Creating relationships.
Taking responsibility.
Adapting.
Achieving.
Surviving.

So when an old identity begins to loosen, we often assume something has gone wrong.
Midlife isn't asking you to destroy everything you've built. To me, it is asking you to distinguish between who you are and who you learned to be in order to belong, succeed, survive, or be needed.
There is a big difference. Somewhere underneath all that adaptation is a woman who may want more room now.
More truth.
More voice.
More pleasure.
More rest.
More creativity.
More of herself.
Midlife is not necessarily the disappearance of who you were.
Sometimes it is the revealing of who was underneath her all along.

And that is a very different story from decline.

What is the woman you think you're losing is simply the woman you've outgrown?

What if you're not losing yourself in midlife, but discovering a woman you've never had the space to fully become?

There comes a moment when the life you've built can look perfectly good from the outside, yet something within you begins to shift.

The roles you've carried, the expectations you've fulfilled, the woman you've worked so hard to become… perhaps some of it no longer fits quite the way it once did.

And that can feel unsettling, especially when you can't quite explain why.

But what if this restlessness isn't something to fear? What if it's an invitation to question what matters now, what you're ready to release, and how you want to live the next chapter of your life?

In this week's Substack article, The Woman Beneath Everything You've Learned to Carry, I'm exploring identity, the sacred threshold of midlife, and the possibility that we're not meant to spend the second half of life trying to recreate the first.

Because there's a difference between the woman you've learned to be and the woman you're giving yourself permission to become. Perhaps your most authentic chapter is still unfolding.

And I'd love to leave you with a question:

What part of yourself are you beginning to rediscover in this season of life?
