A seemingly simple question that most people struggle to answer.

Who are you? Most of the time it’s an answer of all the roles we play such as ‘mother’ ‘wife’ etc and those answers have validity but they don’t have the depth of understanding who we really are underneath it all.

It’s worth pursuing this question a little deeper as having a strong grasp of who you really can act as the guiding light when facing the bigger things in life!

Like important decisions, hardships and challenges, and especially when navigating decisions around your health!

Knowing yourself and your values builds character and the confidence to say no to persuasion, coercion and other elements that may want to sway you in a direction not of your best interest.

This is why I take my clients through this question. The clarity it can bring can be used to determine their path forward and ultimately align future decisions to their best interests. Juicy stuff.

New spots coming available next month. If you want to uncover the best direction for your health and the confidence to see it through, reach out and let’s chat.

Who are you? Can you answer?

In my lifetime I would love to see health care taken out of the doctor’s office. Leave those visits for emergencies.

When have you ever heard the doctor recommend love and kindness as important in relation to disease prevention or healing from disease?

When has your doctor suggested that speaking to yourself positively, reducing stress and fostering positive encouraging relationships might help you get off your cholesterol meds? (As potentially shown in this study)

We have some learning to do in how to truly care for ourselves as modern science keeps evolving but we (especially our children) are getting sicker and experiencing more and more chronic disease.

There has to be a change in thinking!

So this is more of a fun way to discuss how nutrition plays a role in increasing libido. Not a comprehensive list at all.

Apart from keeping a well nourished body when addressing libido we are best to look for foods that support dopamine production as dopamine is the biggest driver of motivation and libido.

Aminos are best here, especially tyrosine, as it has been shown to increase dopamine in the brain. Protein sources from animals and legumes and natural soy products are best.

Another significant factor is blood flow. Nitric oxide is a vasodilator which increases blood flow and lowers blood pressure. So apart from general health and performance benefits from nitric oxide it helps to get blood flow to the brain and s*x organs to enhance stimulation and enjoyment.

Then there is the stimulation from the sensation and taste of foods. This can put you in a relaxed state of mind and help with libido from a mental level.

Look for my post on the main drivers of libido to come soon 👀

There may be more to the Big O than you realise.

Orgasm’s primary purpose (it can be argued) is to assist the motility and retention of s***m in the process of trying to conceive. Studies have shown increased retention of s***m after orgasm… but regular or***ms can have quite far reaching benefits to our health and happiness as we discuss:

Improved circulation
Improved immunity
Improved mood
Reduced cortisol
Pain relief
Improved sleep
Better skin!

Who knew! 😀

Libido is so much more that our s*xual desire! In psychology libido is a term used to describe the ENERGY created by survival and s*xual instincts… and this February we are bringing it back!

Freud described Libido as part of self identification and the driving force of all behaviour. It can be thought of as the dominant instinct of all human and animals on the plant as they are all driven to breed.

We get to learn how we can bring that energy to our lives, to encourage connections with friends, to bring zest to projects we work on. It is so much more than our desires in the bedroom.

Which is why I hate seeing women give up on it! To think that a part of their ZEST FOR LIFE is missing and they feel too shy, embarrassed or unmotivated to seek help. Or even have the conversation!

I have seen the change when women finally address it. I’m here to help light a tiny spark that may lead to some women find their fire again!!!

I took this one to the doctor today with suspected broken bones in her foot.

The doctor gave me a referral for an X-ray and said - “make sure you keep her dosed up on neurofen and panadol.”

I said why do I need to keep her dosed up?

The doctor - “because she is in pain.”

Me- “I don’t really give the kids many painkillers, what is wrong with them experiencing pain.”

Her face: 😳

I never leave my kids in intense pain but I do let them experience pain!

If my mentality was to pump drugs into them at the first sight of discomfort then I would have pumped over 2000mg of paracetamol and 1200mg of ibuprofen through her delicate Gi tract and liver already.

That’s crazy to me when she is managing her pain just fine on her own.

My kids know how to use breathing techniques to help with pain. I also have a few natural things I will use before I give them drugs.

They nearly always refuse pain killers anyway.

The body knows exactly what to do, it will always respond appropriately to the issue. The more you allow that natural process to happen without interfering and dumbing it down the more natural the healing.
This is especially true for mild/moderate fevers, body aches, headaches.

People will think I’m crazy but we have such a pharmaceutical culture as a society and we not healthier for it.

She will tell me if she needs relief and I will decide what to do when that happens, until then plenty of good food and rest ♥️

This one came home from school with a headache, temp and tired this week.
I didn’t spend one second wondering what it might be, least of all the buzzword from the last 2 years.

Instead we got to celebrate that his body was working perfectly. We chatted about how his body is the boss, how he is having a little detox and uplevelling in some way.

Fast
Rest
A play in the sun
Some gardening
Juicy fruits for hydration

My medicine cabinet is so different these days and my pharmaceutical cabinet contains mostly bottles of expired & unused junk.

The energetics of how we view ‘sickness’ in our house has changed and therefore the environment they get to heal in now is a positive & relaxed one.

Taking the family towards the sunshine for the next week.

If you ever ask me the first step you should take to improve your wellbeing, I will often answer with sunshine!

If you live the majority of your life indoors - you will benefit from more sun exposure. (Not sunburn)

Your mood will benefit.
Your microbiome will benefit.
Your wounds will benefit.
Your sleep patterns will benefit.
Your bones will benefit.
Your energy will improve.
Your stress can decrease.
Plus more…

Can you dedicate 20mins of your day to sunshine?

🍋🍋🍋🍋 GET YOUR JUICES FLOWING 🍋🍋🍋🍋
There is evidence to suggest that the bitterness of lemon on the tongue can stimulate your stomach acids via the Vagus nerve and get your body prepared to eat, just like digestive bitters. Giving your body time to prepare for eating, aids digestion and allows your body to get a better intake of nutrients from your food.

Tips for great eating include
1. sitting down to eat, if you are moving around your body is preoccupied with moving muscles and concentrating on other tasks than the actual process of eating.
2. using digestive bitters or bitter/sour foods in preparation for your main meal, getting your saliva and juices flowing. Miso can work here too.
3. mindful eating - being present mentally for the act of eating will actually help with digestion and nutrient uptake. Mindful eating is not new, even the act of sitting down with family and saying Grace/prayer is sending a message to your body to start preparing for food.
You don't have to be a hippy in a tent (although high 🖐 if you are) you just need to slow down and chew properly, focus on your hunger and what your body is doing. ✌🏻

Let’s talk about women’s things…. like PCOS.

PCOS is a metabolic (metabolic/endocrine) disorder not an ovarian disorder! PCOS is more aligned with insulin resistance and type 2 D then it is with menstrual disorders.

Why is this important to know? Because we so often just reduce it down to a problem with our ovaries affecting our menstrual cycle and fertility but in fact understanding that this is a metabolic disease with far reaching consequences can hopefully encourage us to take it more seriously or at least look into a proper diagnosis should we suspect PCOS.

Did you know that symptoms of PCOS can include
▫️anxiety
▫️depression/OCD
▫️array of sleep disorders
▫️irregular/missing periods
▫️binge eating disorder!
▫️male pattern hair growth
▫️hair loss
▫️insulin resistance
▫️weight gain
▫️excess androgens
▫️fertility issues

It also increases the chance of endometrial hyperplasia (which I have spoken about my experience with this on here before). This increases the chance of endometrial cancers in PCOS suffers by nearly threefold.

PCOS women are twice as likely to have a cardiovascular event.

PCOS is largely under diagnosed by more than 60% of women and is a lifelong disorder that doesn’t disappear after childbearing age.

I am one of many women who have this condition healing it has been life changing! it took me 20yrs to discover the link to my PCOS and some of the symptoms above. Let’s hope we are more educated going forward for our women and girls ❤️

I prioritise health and self care in my life the way I want my children to prioritise health and self care in theirs!

It can’t be any clearer for me.

I get sunshine, exercise, go to bed early, cook from scratch, allow others to help clean. I express myself and speak out loud that I’m taking a quick timeout if I need it.

The kids get it. They are starting to do the same for themselves which I can see happening and I’m here for it. ❤️

My schedule is busy but I try to make sure I am on it. Not everyone has the privilege to choose this for themselves I know. But many do. I do.

Why do I choose to live this way when it sounds so damn selfish? Because choosing self care and health also means choosing calm, more patience, more energy for the things I love (like them). Better routines, less stress, more laughter & less fights and it helps me keep my head in the game when the kids challenge me to a game of concentration.

So many mums don’t do this! I believe that their happiness suffers a little for it. Can you challenge your schedule to fit in time for yourself this week? Do you feel selfish when you do?

We all know what we need to be healthier right? I also bet we can give a whole list of ways to
🌟eat better
🌟reduce stress
🌟improve sleep
🌟love more deeply etc
But if we really want change in our life then the question is why don’t we do it? What is holding us back? What are our ‘road blocks’ to that success?
I’ll give you some clues:
✖️Fear
✖️Shame
✖️Guilt
✖️Anxiety
✖️People pleasing
✖️Not wanting to look stupid ✖️Being laughed at
✖️”I don’t have time”
✖️Low self esteem
✖️Too lazy/fat/boring
When I ask people what they need to do to be healthier or less stressed they can give me a list of ‘how to’ but that isn’t the issue.
Uncovering what is holding us back is the key to moving forward and creating real change in our lives. The stories we tell ourselves as to why we can’t achieve the things we want are just that.... Stories! (or BS)
So if change IS something you want in your life then really ask yourself what is holding you back, accept that as your starting point and work forward from there. We all need a little kindness and help along the way, but take that first step.
Oh and by the way you are pretty damn awesome where you are right now too ♥️

How does your life actually FEEEEL for you right now?

You may have the routine down pat, enough money, plenty of tv channels, kids in sport, nice car, decent job …

How does it actually feel to you though!

Are you fulfilled? Aligned? Thriving? Happy? Looking for more? Looking for less? Wishing something was different? Wishing you had more time for ______?

So many people spin the wheels just doing the basics. We are even taught to just be happy with what we have but it’s not selfish to evaluate your life and ask yourself deeper questions without judgement.
*How can I make it better?’
*How does my life feel to me?
*What would I add if I could?
*what would l leave behind?

Anything come up? 😉

The Temple Salad! 🌱

One of the go to recipes in my transformed temple program.

Add my favourite homemade dressing and enjoy! Or better still make your fab dressing.

Now the salad as you can see is easy! We use beetroot as the base for a reason 😉

Dressing
- half a lemon juice
- heaped tsp organic Dijon
- dash olive oil
- tbls Apple cider vinegar
- honey or maple to your liking (don’t overdo it)

I only change one thing at a time, I focus on where I’m stuck or pretending and start there. I don’t cope well if I try to change a million things at once.

Right now it’s movement & strength.

There is definitely a positive flow on effect from any focus on positive change no matter how small but the focus will stay on my one thing until I get the momentum I need towards the goal.

My personal process:
1. Write down your top goals
2. Be honest and address the areas where you are pretending, hiding or constantly making excuses for.
3. Pick ONE focus area. This can be low hanging fruit if you are time poor or the biggest challenge you have.
4. Commit to momentum in this area no matter how slow it may be.
5. Start! Start making moves or taking steps towards this goal you have. Focusing on momentum.

When it gets challenging slow down if you must but don’t stop!

It will all add up.

MEAL PLANS.

If you are relying on someone else to tell you when and what to eat every day (month after month) then are you learning anything?

Meal plans should ideally be used as an educational tool to help build your confidence and understanding on how to put meals together or structure your nutrition.

They are not a pass or fail but more a guide to use and see how your body responds and certainly not the best option for some people. This is because they can get you hyper focus on food or potentially look away from emotional factors contributing to food.

No meal plan is perfect and when I say ‘loosely calculated’ that’s is because your body fluctuates and your menstrual cycle or periods of stress are going to change your bodies needs.

I’m not saying don’t follow it, I’m saying pay attention to how your body & mind respond and work with your practitioner to adjust accordingly.

PS. There are exceptions to this of course. Specific sports meal plans eg: bodybuilding comp prep, or a diet for medical purposes or after a diagnosis should ideally be more strictly adhered to.

27/01/2022

Fat is not your enemy! It is crucial to your diet. Gaining an understanding of healthy fats and incorporating them into your diet appropriately can give you real benefits.

Healthy fats contain vitamins and nutrients and can help with energy, nutrient absorption, brain function, cravings, arterial function, cell function, hormone production and many more.

Healthy fats are in or closest to their natural state, such as from avocados, coconuts, chia seeds, EV olive oil, avocado oil, grass fed butter/ghee, tallow, nuts and clean fish.

Oils to avoid are processed (sometimes heavily sprayed with chemicals, rancid, mixed with solvent then bleached 🤢) such as canola oil, soybean oil, corn oil, cottonseed, safflower and sunflower oil.

As always try to know your source and your targets to make sure fat consumption is appropriate!
