The 4️⃣ phases of disaster management form a 🔄 cycle - an ongoing, continuous loop of preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts!
✅ Preparedness: In this phase, efforts are made to plan, organize, and train for potential disasters. This may include things like developing emergency response plans, testing equipment, conducting drills, gathering supplies, and educating the community about what to do in case of an emergency.
✅ Response: During this phase, actions are taken to address the disaster and minimize harmful effects. This may include activating emergency response plans, providing medical care to the injured, evacuating affected areas, and coordinating resources to address the crisis.
✅ Recovery: In the recovery phase, the focus shifts to restoring normalcy and stability to affected communities. This can involve assessing the damage, providing support and resources for recovery efforts, and addressing physical and emotional health needs.
✅ Mitigation: This phase aims to identify vulnerabilities and areas for improvement in disaster management systems. It involves measures to reduce the negative impact of future disasters which may include infrastructure improvements, public education, and policy changes to increase community resilience and minimize the risk of potential disasters.
Make sure you study 1) what happens in each phase and 2) the correct order of the phases (so you'll know what comes next!)
