đ§đŋ Khona Pond Re-excavation: Supporting Community Health and Water Security
The re-excavated Khona Pond at Dhinagar, Jhilim Union, Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila, is bringing renewed hope to the local community. Previously, beneficiaries reported concerns about contaminated pond water and water-related illnesses, including diarrhoea and skin diseases.
Following re-excavation, the pond has filled with rainwater, improving water-storage capacity and creating new opportunities for sustainable water management. This intervention is an important step towards strengthening local water security, improving community well-being, and enhancing resilience to drought.
The initiative is implemented under the ECCCP-Drought Project by Proyas Manobik Unnayan Society (PMUS), with support from PKSF and the Green Climate Fund (GCF), to promote water conservation and climate resilience in the drought-prone Barind region.
