Did you know Family Day got its start in Alberta when Helen Hunley — the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta — passed the Family Day Act in 1990. This officially established the third Monday of every February as Alberta Family Day. Other Provinces adopted the holiday over the next two decades. 😀

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. It is a major cause of tooth loss in adults. Because gum disease is usually painless, you may not know you have it; it is possible to have gum disease and have no warning signs. That is one reason why regular dental checkups and periodontal examinations are very important!

Oral hygiene and diet may have an effect on the health of your teeth, but lifestyle choices do, too. For example, smoking can increase the risk of developing periodontal disease. Getting less than six hours of sleep may affect dental health as well, because not getting enough sleep can impair the body’s immune system, leaving it more susceptible to infections such as gum disease.

Welcome!

Here at Sonata Dental, we take a genuine interest in the dental health of ALL our patients. We’re located across from the popular Sierra Springs Shopping Centre, and we are a short 15 minute drive from northwest Calgary, which also makes us a good choice for anyone looking for a new dentist!

Our newly-opened office is designed to provide the utmost comfort for our valued patients. We utilize digital radiography to minimize your exposure to radiation when having x-rays or scans, and your dentist will be able to show you detailed images of your teeth and gums mere minutes after taking them. Being able to be entertained with our ceiling-mounted HD televisions while having dental procedures is a big plus too, and this is just a small sample of what we offer clients in our Airdrie dental office.
