So true!!!! Short term fad like Diets are not an effective way to be healthy and loose/keep off weight for long term. There is so much misleading information out there. People thinking they are being taught to make so called "healthy" choices when in reality not so much. Changing your daily lifestyle habits and switching over to a more whole food based diet with home cooked meals is essential for an effective way to ensure you are doing the best you can to promote health, prevention, and wellness. Fat and carbs are essential and actually GOOD for you. It's all about the types you eat, the quality, how its prepared, portion sizes, food combining, strengthening digestion, and eating in a relaxed state. Don't let anyone/anything fool you. Your body NEEDS these macronutrients to thrive and find balance. Stay clear of any aspartame containing products and low fat products. These are not whole foods and your body can not digest food properly where the fat has been removed. And aspartame passes your blood brain barrier and is extremely hazardous for brain functioning and toxic on a cellular level!!! Start by making simple changes and take a look at what your ancestors used to eat before commercial products were labeled as "FOOD." It is in our roots where we will find what real food truly is. Whole foods heal. Processed products labeled "food" create disease, inflammation and huge imbalances in the body. Let's all get healthy together by making better choices :)

I can do this and will feel Amazing when I am all finished!!! My energy especially will be soaring! Mind over matter!!!! I have been a little distracted with Instagram this past week, I finally got on Instagram! Lol! Something at have been meaning to do for a while now. That being said I have not been around fb land too much. Follow me on Instagram blissful_health_nutrition ! Will be sharing inspiring things over there ;) I said I would share some simple tips on one you can start consuming more RAW foods in your daily diet...so here are 5 tips to get you on your path to a healthier more live enzyme rich diet!

5 TIPS to EATING more RAW
1) Breakfast- always start your day with Raw Food. Choose something simple and nutritious, that is easy to digest, such as a banana or a ripe pear followed by a small handful or raw almonds or walnuts, or an apple sliced and dipped in pure peanut butter (just dry-roasted peanuts, preferably organic, as conventional peanuts are very toxic!) or coconug shipped cream with cinnamon (pm me for the recipe/instructions to make coconut whip). Smoothies are also an excellent option, especially for "ON THE GO!" Blend a banana, 1/2 cup frozen berries, small handful of spinach, and approx. 1/2 cup (more as needed to blend) almond or organic soy milk. Add some hemp hearts and/or good quality raw protein powder to make it more filling and to add protein! SunWarrior brown rice protein is by far one of the highest purest quality protein powder available.

2) When choosing your nuts and seeds at the grocery store, be sure to choose Raw unprocessed nuts and seeds to snack on or add to dishes. Look at the ingredient list of typical nuts/seeds you may purchase, they are more then often fried or roasted in hydrogenated or rancid oils, with added seasonings, flavours, sugar, table salt, etc... Choose Raw and Unprocessed!

3) Ditch the white refined processed sugar, and opt for raw honey, aka Unpasteurized honey! Spread on sprouted or sourdough toast, make homemade raw granola bars or balls with oats, honey, cinnamon, pure vanilla, almond or sunflower seed butter (school friendly), or use a sweetener for your tea. Be sure to add when your tea has cooled a bit and is drinking temperature, otherwise you will destroy those raw powerful enzymes!

4) GREENS! Eat a lovely fresh salad Atleast 4-5 days/week...it doesn't have to be 100% raw, but the base will be raw. Make a rainbow salad with red leaf lettuce, shredded carrot, chopped red peppers, red cabbage, raw pumpkin seeds, hemp hearts, 2 hard boiled eggs, with a homemade balsamic olive oil drizzle dressing.

5) When eating your large meals of the day (breakfast/lunch/dinner) try and make an effort to include Atleast 1 raw food on your plate. For example, I love to make my Favourite breakfast a couple times a week, which is 3 local farm fresh eggs, loads of nitrate-free bacon, but I also add in 1/2 to a whole fresh avocado chopped and a huge handful of cherry tomatoes. This is a good balance, as the live enzymes in the avocado and tomato will aid in the digestion of the animal products on my plate! It's all about balance ;) If I were to only consume the bacon/eggs I would probably be bloated and even slightly lethargic feeling for a good few hours, as it would take far longer to digest and steal energy from my body for working harder on my digestive system.

Good Friday Morning you Beautiful Soul! Stress is such a part of life, for most part of daily life...it is impossible to completely escape in the world we live in these days, but we can absolutely practice FREE and simple healing and de-stressing techniques to help calm the mind, soul, and feel at ease when tension is peaking! I could this post by David Wolfe pretty awesome! Singing is one of my personal passions and I sing daily. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to just let those vocal chords loose and feel the stress leave my body! So healing and super fun too not to mention. Lol. Give it a shot. It may feel more amazing then you'd think it to be! If you arn't a fan of singing try these other simple techniques to soothe your soul, walking in nature, taking an Epsom salt bath (add a few drops of lavender essential oil if you happen to have some on hand), find a quiet pace and pick up a good learning or story book and have a cup of herbal tea, go for a swim, do some yoga or light stretching, Meditation, go for a run, or pick up some iron and sweat it out! May your day be filled with happiness, harmony and balance! Happy Friday :D

Do you have little ones that you are trying to adapt their eating habits to healthier ones? Packing their snacks and lunches in creative ways, or arranging food certain silly ways on their plate, can make it super fun and exciting for them, which can help make it easier to transition unhealthy eating habits to healthier ones. Head to the Bulk Barn and buy a hand full of a variety of different shaped "cookie cutters," like a frog, heart, star, etc...and when making things like fresh cucumber slices or melon pieces, use the cookie cutters to make fun shapes for them. Arrange veggie sticks like carrots/celery and small pieces of fruit like blueberries/grapes to make smiley faces or other silly pictures on their plates. Make a sunshine by using veggie sticks as the rays, with a tiny bowl filled with hummus in the middle. There are so many ways you can make it fun and interesting for them. I love this cute idea in the photo below; it's as simple as heading to the dollar store and buying a few supplies to make these little creations! Be Creative, Use your Imagination, Get your children involved, and Have Fun with it! You will be amazed how something like this can make eating Fruits & Veggies fun for children :D

I know when a lot of people hear the word "FAT" they automatically think "Oh no, Fattening and Unhealthy!" Well that is NOT true, Fats are so crucial for the human body! They regulate hormones, insulate body temperature, keep the integumentary system healthy (skin/hair/nails), act as a co-factor for absorbing important vitamins like Vitamin D or K, the list goes on for roles that FAT plays in the body! The catch is, you need to be consuming "HEALTHY FATS!"

Unhealthy Fats/Rancid oils are not only full of inflammatory properties, but also Free Radicals, which cause disease and cancer!!! When eating fats be sure to choose "Healthy Fats!" This means sticking to Raw Unprocessed Fats for the base of it, for example when snacking on nuts and seeds buy Raw ones that have no ingredients such as the following added to them- hydrogenated oils, table salt, sugar, seasonings, flavouring, etc... When eating nut butters choose pure dry-roasted nut/seed butters such as pure peanut butter/almond butter or even better raw butters like pumpkin seed/sunflower seed butter/tahini! Use extra virgin coconut/olive oils for cooking. Be sure to NEVER heat olive oil more then a low-medium heat, as u will destroy all the health properties and actually create unhealthy properties in it! Coconut oil is safe to heat on high temps, as the base is healthy saturated fats. Butter is a great fat to use for high heat cooking as well. And by Butter I am talking of teal Butter, NOT margarine, or just like butter products. Choose your fats wisely, and they will do so much good for your body! If you choose poor quality products that contain unhealthy rancid fats such as Kraft Peanut Butter or margarine for example, this is only bad news for your body!!

Stick to WHOLE Unprocessed Healthy sources of FAT and your body will Thankyou and Smile back at you ;) Other great sources of Healthy Fats include fresh avocados, organic shredded coconut (sulphite/sugar-FREE), raw brazil nuts/walnuts/almonds/pecans, hemp hearts, chia seeds, olives, and Greek yogurt.

DELICIOUS GLUTEN-FREE BANANA MUFFINS

RECIPE
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups Gluten-Free flour blend (1/4 cup sorghum, 1/4 cup buckwheat, 1/4 cup brown rice, 1/4 cup arrowroot or tapioca, 1/2 cup white rice- this is a nice gluten-free flour blend)
2 tsp guar gum
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp sea salt
3 super ripe bananas, mashed
3/4 cup organic cane sugar
1 farm fresh egg
1/3 cup melted coconut oil or melted butter (NOT margarine!)
1/2 cup chopped raw walnuts, pecans or dairy-free chocolate chips (Enjoy Life or Cocoa Camino Choc. chips)
CRUMBLE
Grab a handful of rolled oats, organic cane sugar, chopped walnuts, 1 Tbsp melted coconutoil or butter, and toss to mix in a small bowl using your hands

Method
Mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl,except for nuts or choc. chips.
Mix all the wet ingredients in a separate bowl.
Pour wet mixture into dry mixture, and stir until just combined.
Fold in the chopped nuts and/or choc.chips.
Grease a muffin pan using butter or coconut oil, and then spoon muffin batter into 11 different muffin cups.
Sprinkle crumble on the top of each muffin, and bake at 375 for 25 minutes.

Makes 11 good sized gluten-free banana muffins! Yum yum yum!

CREAMY CHOCOLATE AVOCADO PUDDING

RECIPE
Ingredients
Flesh from 1 whole ripe avocado
2 Tbsp sunflower seed butter
2 Tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 tsp pure Madagascar vanilla extract
2 Tbsp raw honey or pure maple syrup
Dash of pink himalaya sea salt
3/4 cup organic soy milk

Method
Add all ingredients to a nutri-bullet, or other high powered blender or food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy. You may need to stop blending once or twice, to scoop down the edges with a spoon before continuing to blend.

This is so super yummy and totally a Guilt-Free treat made with whole foods! Enjoy :)
