What an incredible few days spent with some truly dedicated people.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the Municipality of Cumberland and Cumberland Fire Services for allowing Bravo Starlight to host a Canadian Red Cross Medical First Responder Recertification course for 11 Cumberland Fire Service members.

Watching firefighters take time away from their families, work, and personal commitments to continue developing their lifesaving skills is a powerful reminder of just how fortunate we are to have such committed professionals serving our communities.

For me personally, maintaining my Advanced Care Paramedic licence and serving patients will always be important. Being able to help train and support the people who are often first on scene when someone needs help carries tremendous meaning. Every refreshed skill, every practiced scenario, and every shared lesson can make a difference when that call for help comes in.

That's why Bravo Starlight exists: to support communities through quality education, ongoing training, and emergency preparedness. Our goal has never been just to teach a course. Our goal is to help build confidence, strengthen local response capabilities, and ensure that those who serve others have the knowledge and tools they need to succeed.

To the 11 members who participated, thank you for your dedication to your community. To Cumberland Fire Services and the Municipality of Cumberland, thank you for your continued commitment to public safety and professional development.

It is a privilege to help make Cumberland County and Nova Scotia a little safer every day.

🚨 WE HAVE SOME EXCITING THINGS COMING AT BRAVO STARLIGHT 🚨

One of the principles behind Bravo Starlight Consulting Ltd. has always been that quality emergency medical education should give people the confidence, knowledge, and practical skills to act when someone needs them most.

That is why we are working toward making TECC-related training opportunities available to the public.

Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) is about more than the word tactical. At its core, it is about recognizing serious injuries, identifying what can kill someone first, taking appropriate action, and continuing care until the casualty can reach definitive medical treatment.

These principles can have value far beyond traditional tactical environments, particularly for people who work, travel, or recreate in places where emergency response may be delayed.

And that brings us to something else we're excited to announce...

🦌🍁 HUNTER SAFETY TACTICAL FIRST AID

Just as hunting season gets underway, Bravo Starlight will be introducing a course designed specifically for hunters and those who spend time in rural, remote, and backcountry environments.

The course will focus on realistic first aid and trauma situations that hunters could encounter and, most importantly, the practical skills needed to respond when professional help isn't immediately available.

Because carrying emergency equipment is important.

Knowing what to do with it when someone's life depends on you is even more important.

We’ll have much more to share soon, including course dates, locations, registration information, and additional TECC-related training opportunities.

A Meaningful Milestone for Bravo Starlight Consulting

I am incredibly proud to share that Bravo Starlight Consulting Ltd. has been approved by the Committee on Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (C-TECC) as a Recognized Educational Partner.

This achievement is particularly significant for us, as Bravo Starlight is now the second private organization in Canada to achieve C-TECC Recognized Educational Partner status.

On a personal level, this recognition means a great deal to me.

As part of the approval process, C-TECC considered my professional background as a combat medic with the Canadian Armed Forces, my operational experience, and the experiences that ultimately resulted in my being awarded the Medal of Military Valour.

I don't mention the Medal for the recognition itself. I mention it because the experiences behind it, along with the lessons learned throughout my military and medical career, have helped shape much of what Bravo Starlight represents today.

Those experiences taught me that during an emergency, technical knowledge is only part of the equation.

People also need to be able to think under pressure, communicate when things become chaotic, adapt when the situation doesn't follow the textbook, make difficult decisions with limited information, and continue providing effective care when resources and options are limited.

That philosophy is at the heart of the training we provide.

As a C-TECC Recognized Educational Partner, Bravo Starlight can deliver high-fidelity, high-stress, scenario-based TECC training designed around the realities of the organizations and professionals we work with.

We don't believe this type of training should be one-size-fits-all.

Training can be tailored to an organization's operational environment, hazards and threats, personnel, available equipment, medical capabilities, and real-world responsibilities. The goal is to create training that is not only clinically relevant, but operationally relevant.

Our programs bring together real-world operational experience, current research, and TECC principles supported by an international multidisciplinary committee dedicated to improving casualty care in high-threat environments.

The purpose of high-stress training isn't simply to make training harder.

It's to help make sure the first time someone experiences pressure, uncertainty, limited resources, and difficult decision-making isn't during the worst day of someone's life.

To become only the second private organization in Canada to achieve this recognition is something I am extremely proud of. More importantly, I am excited about what it allows Bravo Starlight to bring to our clients, our communities, and the people who may one day depend on those we train.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Bravo Starlight and believed in what we are working to build.

There is still a great deal of work ahead.

And we're just getting started.

I've spent my career serving others.

From military service in Afghanistan, to being awarded the Medal of Military Valour, to continuing to serve as an active Advanced Care Paramedic, one thing has remained constant: helping people prepare for the moments that matter most.

That's why I founded Bravo Starlight Consulting Ltd.

I wanted to bring real-world experience into every training session. Not theory. Not generic slide decks. Real lessons learned from emergency scenes, critical incidents, leadership challenges, and high-stakes environments where preparation and decisive action save lives.

One lesson from my military service has stayed with me throughout my career:

"You don't rise to the occasion. You fall back on your training."

Whether on deployment, at a medical emergency, or during a crisis in the workplace, success depends on the quality of the training you've received before the moment arrives.

Afterwards, several participants shared that the realistic scenarios and hands-on training helped them stay calm, communicate effectively, and take action when every second mattered.
