How we help our members (full story):

"When you can’t use your hand you can’t work. Mine just got worse and worse, I don’t have a family doctor and the walk in docs said to go find a plastic surgeon cause its muscles and nerves. I called four plastic surgeons and it was same BS about you have to have a doctor refer you and it’s a seven or more month wait. A Members Health doc spoke with me who is actually a Surgeon. He told me what I needed in detail and then had another doctor arrange the refer and I got the plastic surgeon and the surgery done in a month. Chuffed to bits. You are really decent people and caring. I know where to call now to get stuff done." -Anonymous Member

How do I tell the difference between a flu (influenza) and COVID-19?

Both the flu (influenza) and COVID-19 have similar symptoms! So here are a few key differences to tell them apart:

📆 Flu symptoms show up about 1 to 4 days and COVID-19 symptoms appear about 2 to 14 days, after being exposed.
🚫 Both infections can cause no symptoms or be mild to severe.
🤝 They share some symptoms, but you must know that loss of taste or smell are more likely to be COVID19.

How We Help Our Members:

“Thank you. Thank you. It has been overwhelming this year and my personal events made it so much worse. Your Doctor spent time with me to talk and listen - I really hadn’t considered a Psychotherapist, I thought Psychiatrist and it would mean drugs and I am not that person. Talking to the Psychotherapist every week and reframing how I think about things made such a difference. I feel like a boat has been lifted off me.”

How We Help Our Members:

“I had these spots on my arm for a while and nothing helped and they started expanding. My family doctor said I should have a Dermatologist look at them. I called into Members Health, spoke with Dr. Bernstein and he agreed dermatology was needed, he spent twenty minutes talking to me and trying to get to the bottom of this problem. He gave me a referral to a Members Health trusted Dermatologist. The Dermatologist office called me a week later and I had an appointment the next day. They sent my Pharmacy a prescription and so far it looks like the spots are going, and they are not itchy anymore which was driving me totally crazy. Thanks to Dr. Bernstein and Members Health, I never had a Doctor call me before and then follow up the next day. Really amazing service you have.”

With the New Year just around the corner, it is important for us to set goals for ourselves. Here are some tips from Mayo Clinic that can help you create a successful wellness plan :

1. Track daily activities and everything you eat. - Tracking daily exercise and food consumption will help keep you accountable and will uncover the truth about your habits. Try a few tracking apps or simply keep a small journal with you during the day to document your habits by writing them down.

2. Move more - If you don't have time for a workout one day, add extra movement into your daily routine. This might be as simple as walking during your lunch break or opting to take the stairs whenever possible.

3. Be willing to experiment - If one method doesn't work, try a different one. Eventually you'll find a habit or routine that fits your lifestyle and can help you achieve long-term success.

4. Make one change at a time. - Start small and picture yourself moving a few rocks at a time. Each success will build your confidence and motivate you to continue. Ask yourself, what small changes will you make today?

Member’s Story: The Holiday Blues

"Although I love this time of the year, I realized my anxiety, fear, panic and depression reach new highs during the holidays.

Between the shopping, decorations, and taking care of my family, I become mentally and physically exhausted and just don't know how to cope with the stress.

It had already been an overwhelming year and with Christmas just around the corner, I have had no time to see my family doctor.

Thankfully, my husband introduced me to Members Health, which literally changed my life. I received the advice I needed and the next steps to better my mental and physical well being.

Members Health was the best gift I received this year!" - E.R.

Member’s Story: The Gastroenterologist

"We were given an appointment 7 months out for a Pediatric Gastroenterologist.

I called Members Health to discuss this. One of their Doctors called me back in 30 minutes, she discussed it further with Members Health Specialists and then they ordered additional tests immediately (this was all in just three hours).

They then arranged for a Pediatric Gastroenterologist to see my Daughter in 3 weeks.

This is an amazing benefit – they are so caring and straight forward. They looked after my Daughter. Thank you."

With the holidays looking different this year, here are 4 tips from Mayo Clinic to prevent holiday stress and depression:

𝟭. 𝗔𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀. It's OK to take time to cry or express your feelings. You can't force yourself to be happy just because it's the holiday season.

𝟮. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁. If you're feeling stress during the holidays, it may help to talk to a friend or family member about your concerns. Try reaching out with a text, a call or a video chat.

𝟯. 𝗕𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰. The holidays don't have to be perfect or just like last year. For example, find new ways to celebrate together, such as sharing pictures, emails or videos. Or meet virtually on a video call. Even though your holiday plans may look different this year, you can find ways to celebrate.

𝟰. 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘁. Before you do your gift and food shopping, decide how much money you can afford to spend. Then stick to your budget. Don't try to buy happiness with an avalanche of gifts.

Try these alternatives:

Donate to a charity in someone's name.
Give homemade gifts.
Start a family gift exchange.
