We talk a lot about improving productivity and performance.
But how much attention do we give to what helps us actually function at our best?
We’re all navigating some pretty turbulent forces. The pace of life, increasing expectations, information overload, uncertainty and constant change.
And underneath it all, we’re human beings.
Our brains and nervous systems aren’t designed to operate in a prolonged state of stress and activation without taking a toll.
When we’re constantly overwhelmed or stretched beyond our capacity, it affects more than just how we feel.
It can influence how clearly we think, the choices we make, how we relate to others and how present we are for our own lives.
This is why I think we need to give more love to the human side of performance.
Self-awareness, emotional regulation, attention, resilience and the ability to recover aren’t just things that help us manage stress.
They’re part of what allows us to live well.
And perhaps that’s the bigger opportunity.
Not simply learning how to perform better, but creating the conditions where we can genuinely flourish.
And maybe better performance becomes a natural byproduct.
Make sense?
