Love ❤️ this from @naturalmamaco and reposting because I have seen this image going around without crediting @naturalmamaco ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Imagine if this was the advice we were given how much easier motherhood would be instead of always trying to fight what comes naturally. I feel like all the advice we are given as new mums from (most) doctors, nurses and midwives says the exact opposite of what our instincts are telling us to do and I for one think it is putting so much pressure on mamas and causing so much anxiety because it makes us feel like we are doing everything wrong, and feel guilty when we “give in” to our instincts. It shouldn’t be that way!! Why are we being given this awful advice? I personally think it’s still a remnant of the Victorian Era where people were discouraged from showing emotion or love.. well it’s time to stop living in the past and start standing up to this outdated advice, spread the message mamas! Keep your babies close, love them as much as you can, hold them as much as you can, kiss them as much as you can! Babies need love, affection and attention. More than we think. Forget about worrying if you are “spoiling” them, all the people I know who were “spoilt” as kids have all grown up to be the most confident and successful adults, whereas the ones who were hammered down suffer from insecurity and depression. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Trust your instincts, trust your baby and most importantly ALLOW YOURSELF TO ENJOY your baby, they’re only little once ❤️

Great article.

Milk Production and Me**es: What's the Connection? — Nancy Mohrbacher

Great article.

“I’ve heard that milk production can drop when I get my period. Is that true? Does that mean I won’t have enough milk for my baby?” Concerns about milk production top the “worry list” for many new parents. [1] Among these worries is whether the return of the me**es will affect milk produ...

Breastfeeding should not be stopped

Update from WHO about breastfeeding and Covid 19.
Here is the cliff notes version.
Also click on the link for all the details plus a flow chart of ways to respond in different circumstances.

https://www.who.int/docs/default-source/maternal-health/faqs-breastfeeding-and-covid-19.pdf?sfvrsn=d839e6c0_1&fbclid=IwAR0Mr8-bZn8JHS7bXjIB1xHGjCmcT6BzfiT7TGWR4uYqa1QW59nPCnJTB3E

1. Covid 19 is unlikely to pass through breastmilk
2. There is no reason to stop or avoid breastfeeding
3. The benefits of skin to skin outweigh risks of potential transmission
4. Suspected cases should continue to breastfeed
5. Suspected case in parent; wash hands, mask, cover cough with tissue, clean surfaces regularly
6. If no mask, continue to breastfeed and use other safety measures
7. Wash the breast before feeding only if coughing uncovered
8. Not able to breastfeed? Use expressed or donor milk, shared nursing, or formula
9. Suspected cases can still give expressed breastmilk
10. No extra measures needed after pumping; clean after each use as usual
11. Shared nursing is an option for infants who need human milk
12. Mothers with Covid 19 can resume breastfeeding whenever they feel up to it; no waiting needed
13. Implement recommended hygiene for 14 days with confirmed cases
14. No additional formula or 'top up' needed for breastfed infants
15. COVID-19 has not been detected in the breastmilk of any mother with confirmed/suspected COVID-19 and there is no evidence so far that the virus is transmitted through breastfeeding
16. The risk of giving infant formula is higher during a pandemic/benefits of breastfeeding outweigh the risks of potential exposure
17. Follow these guidelines for 14 days after infection
18. Numerous benefits of breastfeeding substantially outweigh the potential risks of transmission and illness associated with the COVID-19
19. Donations of infant formula should not be sought after in hospitals
20. Recommendations of other organizations may focus only on the prevention of COVID-19 transmission without full consideration of the importance of skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding, while WHO focuses on the risks associated with not breastfeeding

Rebecca Powell is a human milk immunologist and she’s also a researcher at New York City’s Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

We know that breastmilk holds the key to many things and carries antibodies but human milk is not well researched.

Rebecca Powell is conducting a study on human milk to see if it holds COVID-19 protection for children and even adults.

This was never done with SARS, MERS or even the flu!

She has put out a call for human milk samples and is willing to pay $5 per ounce of milk from each healthy, lactating person in New York City, although she will also take samples, through the mail, from people outside of New York City, as long as they have a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19, or if they’re at high risk for exposure.

She is hoping to discover antibodies to help combat COVID-19!

If you’d like to help her research by volunteering your milk, please email her at [email protected]

Subject: Covid-19 Virus Fact

Information regarding Covid-19 Virus from John Hopkins University Hospital.

The virus is not a living organism, but a protein molecule covered by a protective shell of lipid (fat), which, when absorbed by the cells of the ocular, nasal or buccal mucosa, converts into aggressor/multiplier cells.

Since the virus is a protein molecule rather than a living organism, it is not "killed", but decays on its own. The disintegration time depends on the temperature, humidity and type of surface on which it lies.

The virus is fragile; the only thing that protects it is a thin outer layer of fat. That is why any soap or detergent is an effective antiviral, because the foam cuts the fat (that is why you have to rub so much, for 20 seconds or more, to make lots of foam).

Once the fat layer is dissolved, the protein molecule disintegrates on its own.

Heat melts fat, this is why it is effective to use hot water (>25 degrees Celsius) for washing hands, clothes and everything. In addition, hot water makes more foam and that makes it even more effective.

Any solution containing more than 65% alcohol dissolves fat, including the external lipid layer of the virus.

Listerine is therefore effective, as it is 65% alcohol.

Any solution containing 1 part bleach and 5 parts water dissolves protein, breaking down from the inside.

Peroxide dissolves the virus protein but must be used undiluted which is tough on the skin.

Vinegar is not effective because it foes not break down the fat layer.

No bactericide or antibiotic is effective. The virus is not a living organism like bacteria therefore antibiotics cannot kill the virus.

Hi all 🙂 I am friends with a wonderful woman who just completed a surrogacy journey. She was pumping for the surrobabe, but the family has now travelled home. She has available 5litres of milk (was on an anti anxiety med) and an additional 6L of milk available that was pumped after she weaned off. She’s located in St Catherine’s. Please comment here if you are in need and I will ask her to reach out to you 🙂
Hi All, Does anyone know if receipts from clinic visits are tax deductible? :)
Couldn’t have done it without you❤️Attie and team😊
My name is Tania, I share my husbands facebook account. I have 30 oz of breast milk left over from my third baby for donation. The milk has been kept in a deep freezer. The oldest milk is 10.5 months old, the rest is about 6-8 months old. I do not eat dairy and very little gluten was consumed as well. We live in the east end of Stoney Creek. Let us know if you are interested, and we can hopefully get the milk to you.
I have 20-30oz of breast milk from my second baby that is just passed the year mark in the deep freezer. Can anyone use it?! I would hate to throw it out :( (No diet restrictions) I'm in Carlisle but could meet or maybe deliver depending on location.
Hi ladies, I am fortunate this time around in motherhood to have some extra breast milk I would like to donate to a family in need. The first time I had almost none, but was lucky enough to have some donated and it helped me so much so I’d like to pay it forward!! I am a non smoker who eats pretty healthy and my 5 month old daughter also eats this milk daily as well 🙂 please pm me if you are interested. Right now I can give about 15-20 4/5oz frozen bags and possibly more in the future. I’m located in Vineland.
I have milk for donation if anyone needs! Downtown Hamilton. It has been in my deep freezer for almost 12 mths so needs to be used imminently. Pumped when my daughter was 3-4mths old. Drug free, but occasional social drink.
Is anyone available to donate some milk to a friend of mine?
