Hello! My name is Dr. Jenny Kim and I am really excited to be a part of the team at Dr. Beth Nixon Family Dentistry!

A little bit about myself, I am a born Burlington local, I completed my undergraduate
Degree in Honours Life Sciences from McMaster University and from there I graduated with a Doctor Dental Surgery at Western University. I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry and value patient centered care. I especially love working with children! My goal is to build long lasting and trustworthy relationships with my patients while prioritizing their comfort and best interests.
Outside of the office, I like to dedicate my time volunteering and organizing dental mission trips. One of my most memorable experiences to date has been traveling to Jamaica and Guatemala to provide dental care to under serviced communities (pre-Covid). Also, in my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy golfing, travelling and trying out new restaurants, so new restaurant recommendations are always welcome!

I look forward to meeting you in person and serving you and your family’s dental needs for many years to come!

Warm regards, Dr. Jenny Kim

In light of the recent news regarding a dental office in the Burlington area we would like to reassure the public and our patients of our infection control policies.

We pride ourselves on going above and beyond what is expected to ensure the highest standard of care for our patients. Our infection control policies are based on the CDC and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario recommendations and regulations. Which includes the use of biological indicators with sterilization cycles to ensure completeness. Our office Infection Control Officer oversees the infection control process daily ensuring that all steps are completed correctly. All of our clinicians are professionally trained in infection control.

We welcome any questions, and would be happy to share more about our policies!

Wellness Wednesday:

Tips to help reduce tooth decay:

- Be careful with what foods you're consuming. Try eating fibre rich foods and vegetables, milk, yogurt, and dairy products, green and black teas, and foods with fluoride such as Avocado, Peaches, Strawberries, Lettuce, and Radishes. With that being said, one should try to avoid; sticky candy and sweets, starchy foods, acidic foods, carbonated soft drnks, and anything that dries out your mouth such as alcohol.

- Limit between meal snacks, if you crave a snack choose wisely. Consider chewing sugarless gum afterwards to increase saliva flow.

- Drink more water

- Keep up with oral hygiene by brushing twice a day and flossing once a day, as well as seeing your lovely dental hygienists and dentists twice a year for ceanings and check ups.

Wellness Wednesday:

Did you know that proper brushing takes at least two minutes? Most adults do not come close to brushing that long. On average, an adult will brush their teeth for only 36 seconds!! Wowzers!!

Your oral health is connected to your physical health, and not brushing or flossing can actually make you susceptible to infection in the body!

These four steps are the best and easiest ways to help you remember how to care for your mouth, teeth and gums:

Brush at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste for at least two minutes, especially first thing in the morning and before bedtime.

Floss every day – usually at bedtime.

Limit the number of times you eat snacks each day.

Visit your dentist every six months for an oral exam and professional cleaning.

Please don't hesitate to contact us for any of your dental needs at (905) 331-8888 or by email [email protected]

Registered Dental Hygienists like Lauren and Kari are trained in oral cancer screenings and perform them at your exam intervals. Early detection of oral cancer can significantly improve outcomes and prevent a serious condition. Ask them about self oral exams that you can do at home!

Many patients don't realize that a form of oral cancer is on the rise caused by a virus. HPV (virus) is transmitted and upto 75% of Canadians will be affected by this virus at one point in their lives. The risk of HPV is that the lesion can become cancerous. While there are vaccinations available, professional assessment by thorough screening of your medical history and head/neck exam are crucial.

We were so greatful, honoured and appreciative to receive this very kind review that we just had to share it with you!

"If you are intimidated by a visit to the dentist, you have yet to be treated by the team at Dr. Beth's office. OK, call me a sissy if you will. But I used to be so afraid of going to the dentist, I let my teeth go. Until a broke molar brought me to Dr. Beth. After my first visit, consisting of multiple fillings. I was so pleased with the kind, gentle nature of the entire experience. I knew I was in good hands. Over the past 10 years, I have had the odd little filling. And a constant cleaning regime by Lauren and Kari. Until I reccently broke a small piece off a rear molar. I was told by Lina that Dr. Beth was away. But Dr. Coelho would be able to see me right away. What?! No Dr. Beth.
How could any other dentist be as gentle as Dr. Beth. To make a long story short. Thanks to Dr. Beth for hiring another dentist that feels the same way she does, when it comes to care and compassion. Dr. Coelho and Brittany lived up to the reputation of Dr. Nixon Family Dentistry.
So if you are squeamish about dentists.. take that drive to Walkers Line in Burlington. You will be amaze, at how you will be treated. What a team."

Using a fluoridated toothpaste is an essential part of your oral hygiene care. Fluoride helps remineralize enamel that has been weakened by sugars/acids and bacteria in your mouth. Fight cavities before they start!

Ask a member of our dental team if you would benefit from professionally applied fluoride.
