From Esther Perel's Blog - Feeling Touch-Starved? How Our Sense of Touch Keeps Us Radically Connected to Ourselves

https://www.estherperel.com/blog/touch-starved-how-our-sense-of-touch-keeps-us-connected-to-ourselves?utm_source=7%20Day%20Challenge%202021&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=August%202021%20Newsletter%20%28Vdpjru%29&_kx=WuBdVq1Ew-yHhD0sblHmJSmjscoT_9KHGeuDzM9G6J8%3D.N5ubDS

Our sense of touch is a powerful tool for self-care. Nothing can replace the touch from a loved one, but this period of distance from others gives us an opportunity to explore a type of physical intimacy we often neglect: that which lives inside of us. Learning from Nature!

3 Turkeyvultures waiting patiently to snack on a large, dead catfish on the beach. They are waiting for the seagull to eat a bit, and while they wait on the hot rocks of the beach, they spread their wings (as pictured) to keep cool!

Seagulls and turkeyvultures danced and took turns for hours around this fish without any drama or fighting.

We can learn a lot from Nature and wildlife around us ๐Ÿ’š

I love you! You are perfect! Now CHANGE!

I love you! You are perfect! Now CHANGE!

The way we perceive things comes from how we were raised, conditioned and educated by society and societal structures, such as family, religion, schooling and culture. It is so deep that when we are faced with something out of alignment with the conditioning, it can set off chemical alarm bells in us that โ€œfeelโ€ wrong or bad. But itโ€™s really not a threat to us in real life, and simply a different perspective.
๐Ÿง
Itโ€™s important to remember that we as a society, are changing so much as we learn new information, and therefore need to learn to adapt our PRE-conceived notions and conditioning to keep up with a love and compassion-based way of life.
๐Ÿง
Developing methods and strategies to short-circuit the chemical alarm bells is paramount, and understanding the power of perception and HOW to shift perceptions, will be of great service in the times to come for hUmaNITY.

Do come and visit our little heaven!

โ˜€๏ธIt was a busy stretch of beach this past weekend in SoHa! This is the stretch from the well-known Beach Road access (which has ample parking), and leads in both directions, right, towards High Street's flagpole and left, along the Caribbean-like sand to South Beach.
๐Ÿ–
We like this spot near the point so we can settle around the dunes and find some sheltered spots from the wind.
๐ŸŒŠ
The water is shallow enough to keep walking for several hundred meters on soft, smooth sand, which also keeps the temperature less bone chilling, and more refreshing in the hot sun!
โ˜€๏ธ
Come and explore the beach with us sometime! ๐Ÿ–
Remember - we have an Air BnB - so private message us for more information!

We are car pooling from Southampton if any Body wants to join us next Sunday for a fun afternoon!

Annual Spring Clothing Swap!
Woot woot!
Clearview Canyon Studio, Singhampton
Hello Fine Human Beings,
For those of you new to swaps welcome to a super fun and eco-centred gathering!
Here is a little background about me being a hand-me-down (now a hand-me-over) gal!
I have been co-hosting swaps for over 2 decades! Firstly, probably because I was (still am) a younger sibling and I was a hand-me-down kid growing up.
Secondly, because I have been a conscious care-taker of our AWEsome planet since high school.
Thirdly, because I like gathering with people.
Fourthly, because I would rather spend money on travel, good food and art than clothes.
So, for all these reasons and....
Because it is a transformative experience! No joke!
REALLY!?
Yes!
Letting go is often a challenge.
Letting go of things that we love or have once loved is sometimes a difficult experience. We live in a culture that is steeped in consumerism and acquiring stuff. Making conscious choices to LET GO and RELEASE items that no longer serve you, fit you, light you up, etc. is a muscle that most of us need to strengthen.
As you go through your clothes (any season of clothes are welcome at the swap) notice any attachments, feelings, memories surfacing.... feel what there is in the moment, ask yourself a question or two (see below for a few questions), notice any shifts, take a breath, and although it may be difficult at first, let go, and then feel the joy as you pass it along to someone who will love it!
QUESTIONS you may want to ask yourself:
1) Does this item still light me up?
2) Do I feel good when I wear this item?
3) Does it fit me?
4) Am I keeping this item out of quilt, responsibility, or obligation?
Consider the invitation of a clothing swap to be a gentle nudge (or a good swift kick in the butt - so to speak) to take a look at your patterns and habits connected to material 'stuff'.
Then watch at the swap as someone delights in what you have had the courage to 'let go' of!
PLEASE know that you are most welcome to join us even if you BRING NOTHING with you to swap. There is always plenty to share. Which leads me to the ECO part of why I host and love swaps.
If we swap our clothes, and other things we no longer need or that we can share, then we save money, resources, energy, landfill .... which when 'boiled' down it is all the same thing!
We share this beautiful place called planet earth.
Being mindful about how we 'spend/use' our resouces helps us be conscious consumers/conscious earthlings.
If you have never been to a swap they are super fun!!
PLEASE BRING:
1) adults & kids clothes - washed and turned right side out please. Nothing with strong chemical odours or mothballs!!
2) small household items, bags, jewelry, footwear, etc. that work and are in good condition.
3) a bag and/or box to bring your new treasures home in.
4) family & friends to share in the fun!
5) reusable water bottle to stay hydrated and a snack if you feel you will get hungry - swapping can be tiring work ๐Ÿ™‚
6) if you have a clean tarp that we can borrow to put piles of clothes on during the swap, please bring it with you.
For directions please send me a quick email - [email protected]
If you would like to stay for a potluck or picnic afterwards please do! Bring your own eating gear (plate and cutlery etc. ) and something vegetarian to share.
Or if you want to join us but do not want to share good, just being your own meal and enjoy it in community.
Hope to swap with you soon!
Warmly,
Ayrlie See Less

Letting go of what no longer serves our well being is easy during movement practice!
05/03/2021

Letting go of what no longer serves our well being is easy during movement practice!

Let's take this further... (macrocosm to microcosm moment)

The societal programming that we can just throw stuff "away" has lead us to mountains of garbage which pollutes our planet, on a physical level. So perhaps we can be more careful with how we approach cleaning up our thoughts and beliefs?

While gathering those 'old ideas and beliefs' to throw 'away', instead, take a moment to engage in a reflection and look at how this idea or belief was there to help you or keep you safe, in the moment it was created. Honour it and thank it - thanking the part of yourself that was taking care of you - and then re-write the idea or belief. Re-write it to be affirming, empowering, uplifting.

This 're-write' is similar to how we can take the stuff we throw "away" and reuse or recycle it and therefore prevent waste and pollution, and give new life to the stuff. A natural evolution. Nature Herself, wastes nothing. Let us follow Her lead :-)
