It took me almost four years to finally save up for this.
For some moms, something like this may seem like just a piece of jewellery. But when you don’t have an income of your own, your wants and needs can easily fall to the bottom of the list.
My breastfeeding journey was not easy.
With my first, it was traumatic.
Two bouts of mastitis. Both breasts. Breastfeed, supplement with a syringe, pump… only to start all over again for the next feed. Washing pump parts when all I wanted to do was sleep. Sleepless nights. Brain fog. Tears. Feeling completely depleted.
Then came my second—a different kind of hard.
Tandem breastfeeding. Chasing a toddler around with your b**b still in their mouth. 😂 Constantly being touched. Constantly needed. Trying to divide myself between two little people who both needed me.
I may have made it look easy from the outside.
But believe me… it wasn't.
There were tears. Exhaustion. Rage. Overwhelm. So many moments when I wondered how I would keep going.
And yet, not once have I regretted this journey.
Through all of the hard days, my body was able to nourish my babies. And that is something I will forever be grateful for.
So when I closed this chapter, I knew I wanted something to commemorate it. Something to honour the warrior in me.
I had been asking for this gift for years. 😂
From everyone I knew.
And saving for it whenever I could.
Then, when I decided to begin my journey toward becoming a lactation consultant, I knew it was time.
I deserved to give myself the gift I had been asking for all these years.
My very own breastmilk ring. 🤍
A little piece of my motherhood.
A reminder of the milk, the tears, the exhaustion, the sacrifice, the love—and the strength.
I did that.
Thank you of for making it happen.
