So what do we know about Glutathione so far?

- Glutathione = Good

Numerous studies have shown association between selenium deficiencies and the increased risked of developing neurogenerative diseases, cardiovascular disorders, and cancers. If that isn't a good reason to ensure you have enough selenium in your diet, then how about the fact that selenium plays a big role in the oxidative stress cycles in your body and ensuring that viruses don't become more harmful?

Simply put: lower levels of Glutathione are associated with the progression of many disease states such as caardiovascular disorders, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, asthma, glaucoma, cataracts, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematous, photo allergies, Crohnโ€™s disease, Fibromyalgia, kidney stones, Multiple Sclerosis, Cystic Fibrosis, Parkinsons, and schizophrenia.

Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ve noticed the antioxidant wave in the last few years. Food producers are adding acai berries and blueberries to cereals, granola bars, even chocolate, touting the benefits of the antioxidant properties of the berries.

The antioxidant wave is not new however. Vitamin C and vitamin E are also antioxidants. The problem is that these antioxidants have to be consumed in order for your cells to use them, hence the importance of getting your fruits and vegetables every day.

In other words, we have to rely on making sure we get enough to combat not only reactive oxygen species from normal cell process, but also from the battering from the environment, unhealthy foods we eat, infections, and disease states (even mild).
