I am finally done!!!

As I navigate this journey I didn’t know what I wanted to convey with this piece. I only started with a woman and an eagle looking over her. The over all flow tells a story thou…it speaks to the strength, beauty, and complexity of being Indigenous. The woman carries a somber face as she reflects with her hair, feathers and a flowing cover which moves like a dancer through a landscape of space time and the now. The two ravens accompany her silhouette dancing representing the presence of what we carry with us—our stories, our ancestors, our struggles, and the parts of ourselves that refuse to disappear. Above her, the eagle represents love: something expansive and enduring that watches over the journey. I wanted the painting to hold both the somber reality of the Indigenous experience and the beauty that continues to exist within it—a reminder that even through grief and hardship, we continue to move, create, love, and rise.”
