It’s been 2 weeks since my last update.

Mainly because there really hasn’t been anything to update. 1 month into my HRT and I’m feeling pretty good. I haven’t had a hot flash in weeks 😃
.
The tingling feeling in my body is still there although it hasn’t been quite as intense
.
The biggest thing I’ve noticed is my mood has been up and down a lot. I was warned I could get some pre menstrual symptoms so this could be what is going on
.
It could also be everything that’s going on in the world or the fact that I can’t workout right now and I’m feeling it emotionally.
.
I’m going to work on the things I can control. My nutrition, personal development, staying hydrated and moving around as much as possible.
.
What’s your favourite way to move?

What is happening???
.
A question I asked myself every day for quite a while.
.
One thing I’ve been feeling over the past 6 months or more is a tingly feeling throughout my body. This happens mostly first thing in the morning and is strongest in my arms, hands, neck and face.
.
I am assuming this is probably a symptom of menopause and may be related to my body temperature (to be confirmed with my naturopath the next time I meet with her). It hasn’t gone away since I’ve started hormone treatments.
.
Does this mean it’s not menopause related? Maybe we haven’t figured out the right dosage? Or maybe it’s just something I will have to deal with. Yes it’s annoying but definitely not the worst symptom I’ve had.
.
For those beautiful women who are going through Peri menopause/menopause, if you feel comfortable, please share some of the less common symptoms you have dealt with.
.
Some of the things we feel can be scary so knowing that someone else has experienced it too may help ease someone’s mind just a little

One thing I’ve been feeling over the past 6 months or more is a tingly feeling throughout my body. This happens mostly first thing in the morning and is strongest in my arms, hands, neck and face.

Do I feel any different???

After one week on hormone replacements I don’t really feel much different. I didn’t really expect to. My body needs time to adjust.
.
What do I notice? When I feel a hot flash coming on now it’s not intense and gone as quickly as it came! Yay!!! In my mind, that’s a big win!
.
Here’s what I’m hoping will happen….my weight will reflect my lifestyle. My mindset will reflect the work I put into myself and my energy will reflect a combination of all the things….nutrition, fitness, personal development, water and sleep.
.
I don’t expect to have a fit body if I don’t eat healthy and exercise. I don’t expect to be motivated and successful if I don’t put the work into myself. I don’t expect to be full of energy if I don’t eat properly, exercise regularly, sleep well, stay hydrated and work on my mindset.
.
My expectations are realistic if my body is functioning as it should be....but it's not and so I looked at why. I am not one to accept that "it is what it is". Sometimes my mindset can be deflating and frustrating, but most of the time it brings me to a solution and gets me results.
.
Results take work. I’ve put the work in and haven’t seen the results I thought I would. Because I didn't just accept what is I now have hope that I will see results one day soon and can be proud of my hard work.
.
I appreciate everyone who has been following my posts and the outpouring of support. I will continue to post about my journey in hopes that you will be able to take something from this for yourself or someone you care about.
.

You aren’t considered in menopause until you have missed your period for 1 full year?

FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) levels can also indicate you may be going through menopause. I’m not a medical expert so I won’t go into too much detail on FSH but a higher number can be an indicator of menopause. This test alone won’t give you a definitive answer though
.
When I had my FSH test done the first time it was very high and my family doctor was almost certain I had entered menopause. But she didn’t recommend hormone treatment and I was managing fine so it was left at that.
.
My naturopath didn’t want to give me too many hormones without knowing my other hormone levels so to help with hot flashes she put me on a very low dose of progesterone. I didn’t stay on it long though. It did help with hot flashes but it gave me pre menstrual symptoms and I felt uncomfortable with it so I stopped using it.
.
However as time went on all my other physical symptoms continued and some worsened (hot flashes) so I decided it was time to get the rest of my hormones tested through my naturopath and know exactly what was going on.
.
I wanted to do any hormone treatments that may be needed through my Naturopath doctor because they are known to be safer and have fewer side affects
.
These tests showed I had low levels of estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and high FSH....simply put, menopause confirmed. This is what brought my naturopath to recommend hormone treatments. Being low in these hormones at my age can lead to other health issues.
.
This brings us to present time in my journey. It’s time for me to start taking Estrogen and progesterone. Next week I’ll talk about how I’m feeling taking the hormone replacements.

Aside from leftovers I can't find a simple healthy lunch option that I look forward to. So if you have any favourites that are simple, healthy and vegan, please send me your recipes, I would love to try some out.

What made me think there might be something going on with my hormones 🤔🤔🤔

It all started with my cycle (sorry boys). My whole life I have been regular, like clock work, on or off of birth control.
.
A couple of years ago, while on birth control I started missing my cycle here and there or it was very light. It seemed odd so I decided to stop taking birth control.
.
I stopped and didn’t get my cycle for 3-4 months, which again was not normal for me.
.
I was experiencing hot flashes. My face and neck would feel like they were on fire. Now I had heard this can start pre menopause so that alone wouldn’t be concerning.
.
I would gain weight even though I was eating about 75% healthy and I worked out A LOT. My brother once said to me “with the amount you workout you should be able to eat whatever you want”. Now I know there’s so much more to weight gain and weight loss than that but it was in the back of my mind.
.
I also had little to no libido. All these things, for someone who is generally very healthy, caused me to ask questions. That's why I decided to go see a Naturopath. Maybe I was eating too much, maybe some things I considered healthy were not or maybe something else was going on.
.
Through working with my Naturopath we discovered that something was going on with my hormones. This wasn’t discovered right away it took working through my diet and other things before we got there.
