What does a stronger neck actually mean for a hockey player stepping into a faster, harder level of competition?
In this anonymized Kinmetrix athlete case summary, a 26-day Arc™ program documented a 37.5% increase in average peak neck force and 6-of-6 directional symmetry. The report connects those measurable gains to the biomechanics that matter in contact sport: less head acceleration, less sudden velocity change, and better resistance to off-axis impact.
This is not a promise of individual outcomes or a guarantee against concussion. It is a practical example of why objective, multi-directional neck-strength measurement matters for athletes, coaches, and performance programs.

F1 driver Gabriel Bortoleto just held 44kg of neck resistance like it was nothing. The average person gave up around 20kg.
Millions of views. And honestly? We get it. It's wild to watch.
But here's what most people don't know — that neck strength isn't just impressive, it's protective. Research shows that every single pound of neck strength is associated with a 5% reduction in concussion risk. F1 drivers, hockey players, soldiers, pilots — they all take G-forces and impacts to the head. A strong, trained neck is one of the best defences the body has.
The problem? Almost nobody is actually measuring it. Not objectively. Not consistently. Not in a way that tracks change over time.
That's what we built the Arc to do. 💪
At Kinmetrix, we're on a mission to make the neck the most measured, most trained, most protected structure in sport and medicine. Because the neck isn't just a party trick — it's a readiness metric.
Drop a 💪 if you had no idea neck strength was this important!

The Wall Street Journal just wrote about the “meatwall” — the World Cup tactic of packing the near post with the biggest, most physical players to win headers and create chaos at set pieces.

Look at those players.

Can you tell which ones have a neck strength deficiency that reduces their power, limits their directional control, and costs them the aerial duel?

Neither can their coaches. Neither can their medical staff.

Physicality is visible. Neck strength is invisible — until it costs you the goal.

The players who dominate set pieces aren’t just tall. They’re strong through the full cervical chain. They generate force, absorb contact, and redirect the ball with precision.

Right now, no team in the world is measuring that.

Kinmetrix does. 💪

If the best racing athletes in the world are still doing neck assessments like this — a random weight, one angle, straight up — what does that tell us about where the rest of sport is?

Every student-athlete in the United States needs a physical before they can compete.

49 states require it. The AAP, NFHS, and NCAA all recommend it. Heart. Vision. Cardiac. Neurological screen.

Nobody checks the neck.

No baseline strength. No isokinetic profile. No data on the most critical structure in the body for any athlete who takes contact, moves at speed, or competes at the limit.

The gap is enormous. And it exists at every level — from the paddock to the playing field.

That’s exactly what Kinmetrix was built to solve. Real neck data. For every athlete.

🚨 Is the neck training women are doing actually working?

A peer-reviewed study on elite female athletes — soccer and Australian football players — put a 12-week isometric neck strengthening program to the test.

The result? No significant improvement in neck strength.

Zero.

Here's the problem: isometric training means pushing against a fixed resistance — no movement. But real-world neck injuries don't happen when your head is standing still. Whiplash, concussions, and cervical trauma happen in motion — at velocity.

Research consistently shows that women already have 43–50% less neck strength than men depending on direction. That gap has real consequences:
✅ Greater head acceleration during impacts
✅ Higher concussion rates in comparable sports
✅ More vulnerability to whiplash in motor vehicle collisions

And yet the standard response has been to hand women the same isometric protocols — which the evidence now tells us may not be enough.

The cervical spine needs dynamic, velocity-specific training to build the kind of functional strength that actually protects the head.

That's exactly what the Arc™ by Kinmetrix was built to deliver — isokinetic, multi-directional cervical assessment AND strengthening, designed to measure and build the strength that matters in the real world.

Women deserve better than a program that doesn't work. 💪

UFC athletes are some of the most complete high-performance athletes in the world.

Explosive power.
Reaction speed.
Endurance.
Mobility.
Resilience.

And increasingly, elite MMA training is becoming more data-driven and scientifically optimized. Recent coverage from Men’s Health Australia highlights how modern UFC preparation blends strength, conditioning, recovery, movement efficiency, and injury prevention into one integrated system.

One area we believe deserves far more attention in combat sports?

Neck strength and cervical stability.

The neck plays a critical role in:
• Force absorption
• Head control
• Striking mechanics
• Grappling posture
• Fatigue resistance
• Potential concussion mitigation

That’s why the Kinmetrix Arc was built — to bring objective measurement and targeted cervical training into elite performance environments.

As organizations like the UFC Performance Institute continue pushing sports science forward, we’re excited to be part of the evolving conversation around athlete performance and protection.

Want to train like a UFC athlete? You don’t need to push through the pain to achieve tangible results, according to a sports scientist

The PEAK Conference in Las Vegas was a tremendous success for Kinmetrix.

We had the opportunity to showcase the Kinmetrix Arc to leaders across sport, performance, health, and innovation — and the response was incredible.

One of the biggest highlights: the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas took the Arc right off the showroom floor.

We are incredibly excited to see the Arc being used to help assess and strengthen the necks of UFC fighters, bringing objective data, targeted training, and performance-focused neck strengthening into one of the world’s most elite combat-sport environments.

Thank you to everyone at PEAK who stopped by, asked questions, tested the device, and saw the potential of what we are building.

Exciting things ahead.

Women’s neck strength deserves more attention.

Research continues to show that women may face different risks and recovery patterns when it comes to head, neck, and concussion-related injuries. Yet neck strength is often not measured objectively.

The Kinmetrix Arc was designed to help change that.

It provides measurable neck-strength data in multiple directions, helping identify weakness, imbalance, and areas that may benefit from targeted strengthening.

For female athletes, active women, rehab patients, and performance programs, this kind of information can help guide better training and recovery decisions.

This article does a great job highlighting why this conversation matters.
