Introducing Bailey!

Bailey is currently in her first year of the MSc program in Applied Human Nutrition, working under the supervision of Dr. Kathryn Walton. Bailey's previous work with the GFHS was centered around preschooler's emotional dysregulation, their diet quality and food parenting practices. 👩‍💻What is your favourite part of the research process?
Creating a research question! I love the process of reading through literature and thinking through questions that previous research hasn't been able to answer yet.

🍴What is your go-to study snack?
Yogurt bowls are definitely a go-to for me! Lately I've really been into stewed apples so adding those to my bowls has really amped up my fall spirit.

📺📚What are you currently watching or reading?
I'm currently watching the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives! I also just finished rereading Sunrise On The Reaping!

🍭🍔 Do you prefer sweet or savoury?
Definitely savoury!

👟🧠What do you like to do to stay active and/or promote wellness?
I love going for daily walks and participating in different activities! I find my walks always help to clear my head, and give me some much needed time to relax and reset. I'm also currently taking a recreational dance class at the University as a way to stay active, but also have fun with friends!

This week on Healthy Habits, Happy Homes, we sit down with Dr. Stuart Phillips, professor at McMaster University’s School of Medicine and expert in exercise, aging, and nutrition, to unpack the great protein panic. We explore what sparked the obsession, what the science actually says about our protein needs, and whether we’re getting caught up in the hype. We wrap up with realistic protein goals and practical tips for maintaining a balanced, healthy diet 🌱💪
