The Current is taking place in St. John’s Newfoundland at the Holiday Inn St. John’s Conference Center on October 22, 2022, and will also be available online for those who wish to participate virtually.
We would like to welcome Jacqueline Metzler who joined the NSCMIRTP staff on April 28th 2022 in the new role of Deputy Registrar. While educated in Canada much of her professional life she has worked in New Zealand in the areas of PET/CT and CT. She will be working 15 hours per week with principle areas of responsibilities anticipated to be application review and approval, and oversight of continuing professional development program.
AGM - Invitation
On behalf of the Board and staff of the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professional (NSCMIRTP), it is my pleasure to invite you to attend the virtual 2022 Annual Meeting on Sat June 11th at 11am -noon AST. The meeting provides members of the public, registrants and other stakeholders the opportunity to receive updates about NSCMIRTP business from the Board, myself as ED & Registrar and external auditors. The meeting also allows all stakeholders a platform to ask questions and engage in discussion about MIRTP regulatory matters.
Prior to the AGM a free plenary session on CPD will be offered from 930-1030am AST. The invited presenter will be Dr. Glover Takahashi and the title of her presentation is Staying Competent- Challenges and Opportunities. Her areas of research and practice include studying performance and competence; implementing systems to support competence in professionals; designing programs, competency-based assessments, and effective online learning programs.

NSCMIRTP was pleased to participate in a panel discussion as part of Sonography Canada's virtual conference. Always great to collaborate with CMIRTO's Linda Gough and Tina Langlois to discuss the regulation of sonographers in Canada.
Nova Scotia MRTs recently voted to launch CAMRT Atlantic. With proclamation of the NSCMIRTP advocacy is now outside its mandate. CAMRT Atlantic will now take on this role for Atlantic MRTs. CAMRT are now seeking to fill the provincial manager position. With proclamation the dual role of NSAMRT ceased. As the NSCMIRTP we have a primary mandate of public interest and MRT advocacy is no longer part of our mandate. Provincial association services for MRTs has been part of a proposal put forth by CAMRT. CAMRT will be sending information directly to NS MRTs on what it means to have a CAMRT Atlantic and how to vote.

The NSCMIRTP appreciates the transition period from Association/Society to College is a process and clarity between the two roles may be unclear for many registrants.
