With summer finally here, it is important to keep our furry friends' safety in mind. Need to run errands? Do your pet a favor and leave them at home. Never leave your pet unattended in the car, even with a window cracked, and especially not in the sun. If you need to take your furry friend with you, have another person stay with them in the car and keep the air conditioning running. When in doubt, leave your pet at home.

It is that time of year when our neighbourhood friends like skunks start to make an appearance. Make sure to have a plan handy, and this handy recipe for easy spray removal, in case your dog is unfortunate enough to be sprayed by a scared skunk.

Tragic news this morning......One of The Pride Rescue’s most amazing foster families lost their home to a fire in last night.

Several of the foster cats they had in their home have been relocated to The Mohawk Animal Clinic after spending the night at the Halton-Wentworth Emergency Veterinary Clinic. Unfortunately others were lost in the fire and some were seen fleeing from the fire and ensuing chaos.

Due to this tragedy our group of veterinary clinics will be taking donations for The Pride Rescue to help off-set some of the medical bills. Please stop in to make a financial or food donation at The Mohawk Animal Clinic, West Park Animal Hospital, Main Street West Animal Hospital, Downtown Animal Hospital or Wilson Street Veterinary Clinic. Dr Mogavero will personally match all financial donations.

The Pride Rescue is also in need of foster homes for these displaced feline friends, if you can help please visit their website http://priderescue.ca/.

The Pride Rescue

The Pride Rescue, a cat rescue we work closely with, suffered a horrific loss last night. The are currently in desperate need of foster homes for the cats displaced by the fire. Please follow instructions in the shared post if you can help in any way!

**EMERGENCY PLEA**

This evening, one of Pride's foster homes suffered the terror of a house fire.

- All humans are safe
- There has been some feline lives lost, more information will follow on these terrible losses as it becomes available and clear to us here at the rescue.
- Some cats have escaped and are presently missing (see next post for missing pets).
- Surviving resident cats are currently in emergency vet clinic receiving oxygen and it is hoped they will all pull through, we will know more in the morning on their status and prognosis.

At this time, Pride Rescue has a very urgent need for foster care providers. We need to ensure all surviving cats have a safe place to land when they can be released from the vet, and we need to prepare our more experienced foster homes to be able to accept any cats who come through with injuries or need for serious medical support in order to recover, and in order to make these spaces and ensure the safety of these beautiful animals, we urgently need members of the public to open their homes and hearts to fostering.

Please, if you can assist, visit our website at http://priderescue.ca/ and submit a foster application form here : https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeTyaP2ALOfbF2amm3DeeCIMjFc559y_coiPzaysKFHRmPu7A/viewform

Your kindness can help save lives, and ensure the bright futures of these affected animals, and we thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for considering opening your home and heart to one of them.
