Lesya is an advocate for change when it comes to providing options for our aging population. 90% of Canadian’s want to live out their years at home as long as they can.

In a recent episode of Zoomer TV Lesya was asked to be part of the discussion regarding how home care can be part of the current long term Care home crisis.

Many of us have been working and learning from home for a year now and may need a refresher.

For everyone that finds themselves working remotely, we offer some basic tips:

1. Get into a routine - or stay in your routine - routine helps. Carve out actual work hours and set aside time for a lunch break.
2. Goal making. If you have difficulty getting up in the morning and tackling your routine, write down your goals for the day the night before. Make sure that your goals are realistic and achievable.
3. Get enough rest. The stress of the Covid-19 pandemic will zap your energy - don’t underestimate the effect it may have on you.
4. Take frequent breaks. If you find that you are becoming less than efficient overall, take a quick break to make a cup of tea, walk around the block or even making a call to a loved one. You may find focus will increase for the next round of work tasks.
5. Self-care. Exercise, eat well, and take time for your yourself outside of work hours. Give yourself a manicure, a pedicure, or read a book.
6. Separate your work space. Keep a space in the house dedicated to work life - the more that you can separate home and work space, the better you will feel. Mood is influenced by environmental cues. So, you may have to be creative, and spend some energy making your work space “work “ for you, but it is all worth it when you can then “retreat” to your living space at the end of a work day.
7. Create a comfortable environment. Opt for an ergonomic set up; this may require some creativity and perhaps a few small purchases.
