IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR PATIENTS WHO RECEIVED ASTRA ZENECA VACCINE THROUGH OUR CLINIC ***MARCH 10-19***

Following the Ontario Government’s decision to continue with second doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, people who received their first dose of AstraZeneca from March 10, 2021 to March 19, 2021 at a Primary Care Clinic in Hamilton are eligible for an earlier dose interval of 10 weeks with informed consent.

The Hamilton Primary Care Partners (Hamilton Family Health Team, McMaster Family Health Team, Hamilton Family Medicine and Community Health Centre partners) supported by Hamilton Public Health Services are hosting clinics this weekend to offer second dose of AstraZeneca for these eligible individuals.

Clinic location: West End Clinic (690 Main Street West)
Dates: Saturday May 29 and Sunday May 30, 2021
Time: 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM
No appointment necessary

Dear patients,

***COVID19 VACCINATION NOW AVAILABLE FOR PATIENTS 85 YEARS AND OLDER***

We received important information from the City of Hamilton on Friday about COVID19 vaccination for Hamilton residents 85 years and older.

With the current vaccine supply, vaccination can begin at last for our patients who are 85 years and older. Those 80 to 84 years of age will become eligible over the coming weeks.

To begin scheduling appointments, those who are 85 years + in this calendar year and live in Hamilton and who have received care at a Hamilton hospital or a Hamilton hospital clinic over the past six months will be contacted by the hospital with an appointment time beginning today.

***If you are 85 years or older, have NOT received care at a Hamilton hospital or a Hamilton hospital clinic over the past six months, and would like to register for a vaccine, please call the Public Health Services COVID-19 Hotline at 905-974-9848, option 7.***

PLEASE NOTE - CALL VOLUME IS VERY HIGH ON THIS PHONE LINE - PLEASE BE PATIENT AND KEEP TRYING.

VACCINE SUPPLY IS STILL QUITE LIMITED SO PLEASE ALSO HAVE PATIENCE WITH THE AVAILABILITY OF APPOINTMENTS FOR NOW.

A number of clinic sites are being set up:
On March 1st, the St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) West 5th COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic will begin to vaccinate adults 85 years of age and older.
Beginning March 3rd, the Hamilton Public Health Services mobile clinic will be setting up pop-up vaccination clinics.

The following locations are being planned:
Winona: Saltfleet Community Centre
Glanbrook/Mount Hope: Municipal Service Centre
Ancaster: Ancaster Rotary Club
Dundas: Dundas Community Centre
Waterdown/Flamborough: Harry Howell Arena
Additional clinic sites within neighbourhoods disproportionally impacted by COVID-19 –final sites to be announced in coming days.

These are all by appointment only clinics, walk-ins are not permitted.

It’s important to note, when being contacted for an appointment, you will NOT be asked for their healthcard number, social insurance number, or credit card number.
Vaccinations are free of charge.

You may hear about Hamilton receiving some doses of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) vaccine in the coming weeks, but these doses will be provided to our most vulnerable populations first, such as staff and residents in long-term care. We do not know when the COVID-19 vaccine will be available for us to provide to our patients here at McMaster Family Practice. We expect it will be in late spring 2021 and will update our website and social media accounts as more information becomes available.

Did you know that the McMaster Family Health Team is now offering appointments via video to all patients using a secure, easy-to-use platform?

A video visit allows you to talk online to your healthcare provider using video chat – all from the safety, comfort and convenience of your own home using your computer or smartphone.

Many of the appointments booked with your healthcare provider can be scheduled as a video visit. You can request a video visit when you call the clinic to book your appointment.
