What is it about speaking that is super freakin scary?😬
In one word — judgement.
It’s true, no matter what we do (or don’t do) in life, we will be judged. Judged for being too ___________, judged for how we look and sound. If we want to, we can think of a million ways in which the people “out there” will judge us.
It’s not so much the fear of being judged by the people we don’t know, but by the people we DO. What will my friends/coworkers/parents/enemies think of this? What about the people in my stories? How will they feel?
There’s no question that showing up and sharing our stories invites a level of judgement. But the only judge we need to worry about is ourselves. How will WE judge ourselves if we DON’T share our message? (and, if you’re a believer, than the big guy upstairs too).
So remember, speaking on camera or on stage is an ELEVATED experience which calls for ELEVATED emotions. The next time you think you’re gonna S*%# yourself when you’re about to speak, tell your brain that those nerves are EXCITEMENT and adrenaline. Use those heightened emotions to your advantage and channel them into your words.
If you don’t even know where to start, let’s brainstorm together. Send me a DM for a free chat. ☎️
**Don’t wait until you’re judging yourself for not sharing your message sooner**
