Just over here doing my happy dance because the 5-day Wellness Immersion for Moms was so inspiring and fun! And now I get to spend a week on the beach.
What are you happy about this Friday?
Iām flipping my perspective...
Over the past several years and more so over the last few months, Iāve been paying more attention to my thought patterns, the words I use, and my perspective. Iām always looking for ways I can expand what I thought to be true.
For example, I used to believe āachievingā a headstand was some sort of right-of-passage to obtain true yogi-status. Can I even teach yoga if I canāt do a headstand? Now I see that this idea is absurd and that getting into a headstand to prove myself to others really misses the mark. After years of self-doubt, Iām starting to realize that I donāt need to prove myself as a yogi, an actor, an entrepreneur, or a mother to anyone.
When I listen to what my body, mind, and soul are telling me, I do the things that make me feel worthy to ME. When I feel worthy to myself, Iām a better leader, artist and mother.
In short, headstands are fun and cool, but they donāt make me a āreal yogiā. Today I felt like doing one, so I did. That might not happen again for 6 months. We shall see.
How are your perspectives changing? Or have they?
It was such an honour to chat with @momthemanager about motherhood and creative wellness. She is such a wealth of knowledge in topics ranging from child development, parenting and self-care for mothers.

Iād love to know your takeaways. What have you planned for your creative self-care this week mamas?
If the thought of a meditation practise right now just feels like another thing you have to do (on top of full-time parenting, full-time working, full-time homeschooling and full-time housekeeping) I totally get it! Iām not perfect at it either.

Thatās why Iām giving you 3 tips to think about if it is something youād like to experiment with while you are home and likely under a lot of stress.

Give them a try and let me know how it feels!

Ok, so Valentineās Day has never been my jam but I do love this song. Truth: Iām not a singer- I just love love singing. It relaxes me and makes me happy. So this year I decided instead of paying for dance classes, I would take singing lessons.

Whatās something you love to do but maybe donāt do it enough or in front of people?? Iād really love to hear from you. What things do you wish you had more time for that would make you feel more relaxed or happy?

Also yes, I am rebranding... I wonāt be posting until Iām fully launched but Iāll keep you up to date in the stories. Canāt wait to share the new direction that Iām taking @creative_wellness_hamilton

@DanConiglio, manager of @lmmarkham_on, promised that he would walk to work in his shorts on a frigid January day if their music therapy fundraising efforts reached $5,000. Their store raised over $6,000 for the Sick Kids music therapy program!

Chair yoga is a great way to make yoga accessible to almost EVERYONE. Itās not about the fancy poses. Itās about moving mindfully, connecting with breath, and becoming aware of all the things happening in our bodies that allow even the simplest movements to happen.

I was told that every pregnancy is different.
In my first pregnancy I was amazed by the strength of my body. I was doing headstands in my third trimester. I felt strong, glowing, and confident.
This pregnancy is different (to say the least); challenging, tiring, and somewhat debilitating.
But, I have learned so much from it. I have learned to forgive myself and my body. To allow myself to move, albeit slowly, because MOVING IS BETTER THAN NOT MOVING!!
I have learned new ways to move: walking, swimming, and just dancing in my living room with my toddler.
Most importantly, I've learned to better connect with the older adults I work with because I have a better understanding of how it feels to have a body that isn't quite doing what you want it to do, or what it used to be able to do.
I am thankful for this pregnancy, and I am trying to embrace the last couple months with grace and of course, with MOVEMENT.
