OAMRS represents +5000 Ontario MRTs and DMSs. OAMRS is the only organization representing MRTs/DMSs at the Ontario government and Allied Health Committees.
The Association is an incorporated not-for-profit organization which exists to serve the needs of its Members primarily, but also those of its stakeholders. It is governed by a Volunteer Board of Directors. Programs and Services are determined through the extensive strategic planning process based on the high viability and impact in reference to the value proposition for each Program or Service. Staff and Volunteers are the key to program and service delivery in our organization. Member and stakeholder feedback are major drivers in decisions made on the delivery of our programs and services, but not always the deciding factor as the capacity of the Association is the final determinate. Continuing Education: • Producing and providing Continuing Education in a variety of formats, including the Annual General Conference, Section Meetings, and on-line courses. Advocacy: (Promotion or defense of a Member or group of Members by the Association). • Advocating on behalf of the Members and the Profession to government bodies, as well as the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO) and Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). • Using our Marketing and Communications Plan to effectively promote our Profession. • Having an active government relations program. • Meeting with other Organizations and Associations to promote the Profession, e.g. the Ontario Association of Radiology Managers. • Facilitating the implementation of the degree as entry to practice in Ontario. • Advocating for advancing the Scope of Practice of our five (5) Disciplines. • Being a Member of the Coalition of Ontario Regulatory Health Professions’ Association (CORHPA) where neutral issues affecting Associations whose Members are regulated are discussed. Recognition: • Recognizing Members’ accomplishments through an Awards and Recognition Program. Support: • Arranging legal assistance. • Advocating on behalf of Members when required. • Providing continuing professional development (CPD) to assist Members on maintaining their competence. Information: • Supplying or researching information on all inquiries relating to the Profession, the workplace, education, etc. • Informing Members of current events and practice issues through meetings, publications and the Web Site: www.oamrs.org Governance and Management: • Strategic Planning for the future to ensure continual evolution of the Profession to meet the needs of the Members. • Forming Task Groups to advance the Profession or promote public and workers safety as the need arises. • Arranging for the invigilation of entry to practice examinations. • Delivering Position Statements and Papers on issues of relevance to the Profession. • Aiding researchers for studies such as the “Respiratory Study” for the Ministry of Labour. • Group Benefits such as Home and Auto Insurance, Travel and Critical Illness Insurance. Professional Liability Insurance, Financial Planning, Mortgage Services, and entertainment discounts. • Providing the tools to keep Members, partners, allies, and other key stakeholders informed of Association activities and issues. The Business Model of the Association is based on our Mission, core values and beliefs, which is to deliver value through value relationships, Stakeholder networking, partnerships, government advocacy and resource management.
