Keeping it personal...
I am lucky to work with a variety of women. All with different goals and hopes for what fitness can do for their life. It really is amazing to see, hear and watch our clients in the online space still take control of their fitness.
⭐️Maybe your a new Mom with little time.
⭐️Maybe your a Mom who wants to put self care back into the equation
⭐️Maybe your not a Mom but want to feel more confident. Confident in your movement, strength.
⭐️Maybe you are recovering from an injury.
⭐️Maybe you just want to keep moving but you don’t know how at home.
The only decision you have to make is to stop avoiding the work. Be honest with yourself. You can either wait to feel different or start to do different!

Each week you should take time to evaluate your why. It can adapt and change but if you lose touch to why you started, you will fall back to where you feel safe.

My maintenance plan…
.
.
.
Wait! I don’t really belief we are every in the state of maintenance. Honestly, you are always tipping the scale one way or another. In anything. Balance is a pursuit for a state of being that I don’t actually believe truly exist, we are chasing an idea that everything we want will fit perfectly in place. Life is not linear, so our course will always be slightly changing evening to the slightest degree. I do, however think we learn new thresholds that change within our self control, boundaries, priorities and habits. How far we might push or let things go may become closer together over time. Anyways, that’s why I think it’s important to know not only what the goal is but how you want your life to look because you’ll stay focused on how to stay close to that even when we require our priories to shift. Things happen, work gets busier, workouts get shorter. Schedules gets full, meal prep takes a back burner. More responsibilities on your plate, stress because more apparent. Sleep takes a hit. These ever changing variables will pull you in different directions on the constant. So, learning where your bottom lines are will act as your anchors when you need a little room out of balance, like we all do time to time.

It may not be ideal.
It may not be what we expected.
But the need, want and desire is there. The fire. The willingness and openness to grow is there.

Did you know that often people who struggle with their food, also struggle with money. Often this is because of the mindset of sacricity. I like to put my mindset in the state of abundance. This means when I sit down to eat, I always tell myself there will be more of this food again. I also do the same with money. If I need to invest in something, I remind myself there is always more money to be made or to come.

When we shift to a more abundance mindset, we lose the anxiety that will NEVER get to eat those cookies again. We can find peace in eating what we feel like, knowing someday soon you can enjoy them all over again.

Do you have an abundant mindset towards your food?

A change in our habits can lead to a changed life…
.
.

I always like to use money as a comparison here. If you spend more than you make each month, even by a little. You’ll notice little by little your debt increases. If you save little, you’ll notice little by little your savings increase. This same commitment to habits around eating healthier or exercising more is the same. It isn’t about one healthy meal, it is about the habits that support a healthier life. It isn’t about crushing 10 hours a week in training, it’s about living a more active life.

@jamesclear says “Habits are not a finish line to be crossed, they are a lifestyle to be lived”. I feel that. I challenge you to think of some of your habits, they’re isn’t any good or bad ones but ones that serve a goal and ultimately provide a solutions for something you desire. Do your habits support the person/life you want to live???

BEING EMOTIONAL...
.
.
.
How you react or respond to someone or something are different. Reacting may or may not be the most tactful, helpful or healing way to get your point across versus responding but sometimes it happens. We react, we blow up, we break down, we get “emotional”

Responding let’s us hear the person, observe the situation and check in with our feelings. Responding will let you share your thoughts, opinions or feelings in a more unapologetic state, with stronger enforcement and clarity. Still filled with emotions. You took a moment to notice the emotions before reacting.

However, if you react emotionally. Know this. It doesn’t invalidate how you feel. You might act on impulse, say things you don’t mean, could hurt others by not thinking things through. MAYBE if you took a moment you’ll decide it is/isn’t worth your energy. Perhaps, you’ll realize that whatever your reacting to, has nothing to do with you.

Regardless, both require you too feel. Both will cause a response out of the other person. Both can feel hard. You may be seen as being “emotional” When someone says this, it is a form of gas lighting. A deflection of their discomfort in your emotions.

Being emotional doesn’t mean what you feel holds no grounds. I have played down my feelings in situations. Saying, I am just being emotional, lock it up. I hear it all the time from clients. In the end I may have not reacted because I was filled with emotions but being emotional never suggests you don’t have a right to feel, process and share your feelings. Even the tough ones like hurt, frustration, anger etc.

Somewhere, we have put this stigma on being emotional. Feelings are your messengers, your bu****it reader, your map to situations and circumstances. They give you a pulse check. Losing it because you got frustrated that someone cut you off in line? Ok, try taking a big breath first. Respond versus react but never think sharing how you feel has anything to do with “being emotional”

We are human, it is what we are. Learning to accept, acknowledge and share our feelings in an inclusive, direct, fair and loving way is how we build stronger connections. With ourselves and others.

Sarah your are a home workout killer!
"I thought I would have a hard time staying motivated to do my workouts at home. Would I continue exercising without the full gym and my trainer right beside me? But Morgan Kate Fitness made it easy to keep going. They provided custom workouts, tailored to my needs and he equipment I have at home. I actually like being able to do workouts completely on my own time (usually my son's naptime). And Morgan is just a "Voxer" msg away with tips and answers to all my questions. I love being able to check in with her and let her know how I liked my workouts. She even helps my modify for my sore knee. So glad I renewed my membership during this lockdown. Working out at home with Morgan Kate Fitness is keeping me sane and strong."

This is what it’s all about.
No longer eating just because.
Tapping into your physical hunger.
Fueling your body with nutrient dense food.
Creating space for the foods you love.
It’s about establishing a sense of awareness and then developing the skill sets to transform your relationship with food and lifestyle.
How would you discribe your current relationship with food?

Training gives us an outlet to suppressed energies in the body. Such as stress, anxiety, depression, sadness, anger. It is like we are conditioning our spirits because we always feel better or relieved after a movement session right? I sometimes like to think that if training makes us better, exercise conditions the body. Training is progress driven. Faster, stronger, happier. So, slow progress is where it’s at. It’s becoming consumed by it and trusting it will add up in transformative ways inside and outside the body.

Bouncing back postpartum…
.
.
.
I heard this a lot when I was pregnant. You’ll bounce back no problem. Honestly, it stressed me out. Before my pregnancy I was healthy, fittest I’ve been and by fit I mean strong, injury free, moved well. Great sleep, mood and energy. I didn’t struggle to get to get pregnant either. However, my pregnancy was not breezy. I was taken off of work at 20 weeks with high blood pressure. Which, seemed to be better regulated when I slowed it down. So, doctor thought it best to keep me off work. This effected my mental health a lot. I was soon referred to the Women’s Health Concern Clinic. After Caleb was born I diagnosed with Postpartum Anxiety. I exercised the whole time but my body changed faster than I could keep up, the hormones threw me for a curve and as someone who is pretty emotionally constant. The worrying was a lot and fear of what would happen to my career was crushing. Scared with all the new Mom stressed on top of it all.

And truth was that on the other side. When I became a Mom, I may have been littered with anxiety but incredibly determined to move forward, I didn’t even desire to bounce back. I wanted to take all this and be better. Stronger mentally, emotionally and physically for my son. I wanted to show women, that our bodies don’t need to be what they once were. That our pre-baby bodies we apart of a life when our children didn’t exist. I love being a Mom and this body made me one.

I wanted to do my body a curtesy and provide it the care it needed to now show up for myself, my son, my job. All these wonderful things it help me create and will continue to carry in my years to come as a Mom. I always say, I want to be able to pick up my son for as long as I can. Ideally to the day he tells me to stop. I want to role model a healthy and free loving way of life that has no limits. I can only do that if I start with being in the moment and caring for myself the best way I can.
