Ontario Physical Literacy Summit OPLS is a non-profit initiative with Physical Literacy Hamilton. Since 2013, a dedicated team of professional volunteers work to create resources and events that align with our belief in the value of physical literacy and its benefits for all individuals.

Promoting the Physical Literacy Hamilton Summit and Physical Literacy in general. Also supporting CS4L and Teaching Games for Understanding.

Presenter Announcement: Tim Scott. Tim has been teaching for 16 years with the PDSB in roles from Kindergarten to the classroom and currently as a Health and Physical Education Specialist for Grades 1-4. He believes that a successful Health and Physical Education program needs to offer a variety of opportunities and experiences for students to be successful and learn to rise to new challenges.

Syd established the SydFIT Centre in 2007, and has grown the business globally to include fitness boxing, youth boxing programs, and a successful amateur competitive program.

Sharlene’s approach to fitness and rehab is unique because it’s based on functional fitness. Functional fitness is exercise that integrates many muscle movements as opposed to working them in isolation at the gym.

A professor in both the Fitness Health Promotion and Recreation Programs at Seneca College, in Ontario, a learning facilitator for the Coaching Association of Ontario, a Physical Literacy master learning facilitator with Sport for Life, a master trainer with High Five and an inclusion collaborator with INclusion INcorporated. Presenter Announcement: Dallas Soonias. Dallas Randolph (Keeshig) Soonias was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and is registered in Cape Crocker reserve in Ontario. He is currently the Head Coach of the Sait Trojans Mens Volleyball team. In 2004, Dallas became a member of the Canadian Senior Men’s Volleyball Team. Since then he has competed in hundreds of matches and competed with the team in all major tournaments and competitions. Dallas is proud to be the first indigenous Canadian to represent Canada at the highest level of his sport.

Presenter Announcement: Kristen Parise. Kristen is a Registered Physiotherapist with over 19 years of experience and additional training in Pelvic Health and Pediatric Physiotherapy. Kristen’s goal is to make sure every client leaves the clinic with a better understanding of their own body and and the tools to return to health. Kristen won the YWCA Woman of the Year award in 2019.
