Advice to My Younger Self with Melani

"If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be: Don't be afraid to make mistakes."

It's easy to feel like you have to get everything right the first time, but mistakes are a normal part of learning, growing, and figuring out who you are. Some of life's most valuable lessons come from trying something new, taking a chance, and learning along the way.

You don't have to be perfect.
You don't have to have all the answers.
Growth happens when you're willing to try.

Our Foundry Kamloops Capital Campaign is almost complete! Help us cross the finish line and create a welcoming space where youth can access support, connection, and care when they need it most.

Wellness Wednesday Tip: Practice self-care, whatever that looks like for you.

Self-care doesn't have to be complicated. It's about taking time to do something that helps you feel rested, recharged, and supported.

For you, that might look like:
Going for a walk
Reading a book
Listening to music
Taking a break with a favourite drink
Spending time with friends or family
Getting some extra rest

Remember, self-care isn't selfish. Taking care of yourself helps you show up for the people and things that matter most.

Advice to My Younger Self with Sarah

“If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be: Don't overthink everything.”

It's easy to get caught up worrying about what might happen, what other people think, or whether you're making the "right" choice. But so often, the things we spend the most time stressing about never happen the way we imagine.

Trust yourself a little more.
Take things one step at a time.
Don't let overthinking stop you from trying.

Wellness Wednesday Tip: Step outside and take a breath.

Sometimes one of the simplest ways to support your wellness is to spend a little time outdoors. Fresh air, sunshine, and a change of scenery can help boost your mood, reduce stress, and give your mind a chance to reset.

Try:
Taking a short walk
Spending a few minutes in a park
Walking to your next destination instead of driving
Sitting outside and enjoying a moment of quiet

What would you tell your younger self if you had the chance?

Wellness Wednesday: Take an intentional break from your screens

Whether it's scrolling social media, gaming, texting, or watching videos, screens are a big part of everyday life. Taking a short, intentional break can give your mind a chance to reset and recharge.

Try putting your phone down for 15–30 minutes and use that time to:
• Go for a walk
• Read a book
• Do something creative
• Enjoy a quiet moment
• Connect with someone in person

You don't have to disconnect completely. Even a small break can help improve focus, reduce stress, and create more space for the things that help you feel your best.

Thank you Association francophone de Kamloops!

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming children and staff from the Association Francophone de Kamloops Daycare to Foundry Kamloops for a tour of our new space and the presentation of proceeds from their recent Lemonade Stand Day fundraiser.

During their visit, the children took part in a fun activity exploring feelings and emotions. Using an outline of a person, they shared and illustrated things that make them feel happy and things that make them feel sad. It was a wonderful opportunity to start conversations about emotions and the importance of expressing how we feel.

Thank you to everyone who supported the lemonade stand and to the Association Francophone de Kamloops Daycare for your generosity and commitment to supporting youth in our community. We loved sharing the space with you and can't wait to welcome you back!
