A little look at some of my one-on-one moments with Jon, Hayley , and Laura this week.🫶🏻

Some days call for a little extra TLC, encouragement, and connection. Whether we’re working on independent living skills, building confidence, celebrating accomplishments, or simply making space for feelings, every moment is an opportunity to grow.

And of course, there’s always music! 🎶 Music is such a big part of my program. It brings us together, gives us a way to express ourselves, share our feelings, celebrate, laugh, and sometimes let a few emotions out along the way.

A special shoutout to Hayley for her song request this week! 🎤🥰

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to mentor, encourage, and support these wonderful individuals as they continue to grow in confidence and independence.

Sometimes the best lessons happen when we turn up the music and simply let ourselves shine! ❤️😘🤗

A fantastic grocery shopping trip at our local Farm Boy today with Lizzy! 🛒🍎🥦

With a bigger grocery list, Lizzy did an amazing job selecting fresh fruits and vegetables, navigating the aisles using the signs, and making thoughtful choices.

But today’s biggest accomplishment? When the milk her mom requested wasn’t on the shelf, with a little encouragement, Lizzy took the initiative to approach John, a Farm Boy team member, and independently ask for help finding the right product! It was her first time independently asking a store employee for assistance when something wasn’t on the shelf. And John was just as excited as we were! ❤️
So incredibly proud of Lizzy! Every step toward independence is worth celebrating! 🌟👏🥰

🍁A beautiful October day spent enjoying the outdoors, sharing laughs and taking in all the stunning fall colours! 🍂☀️

The colours of October in Ottawa are simply breathtaking right now. Soaking up the sunshine, enjoying nature and making memories together. What a beautiful reminder to appreciate the little moments and all the colour life has to offer!💛🫶🏻

🌙✨ A little movement, a little mindfulness, and a whole lot of calm. 💜

Our yoga class with Kim was wonderful as always! We flowed through half-moon salutations, star, goddess, and warrior poses, and even spent some time carrying the moon. 🌕 🧘‍♀️

A big thank-you to Kim for creating such a peaceful, welcoming space where everyone can move, breathe, and find their own sense of balance. We are so grateful for you! 🤗

❤️ The joy, the laughter, the memories… and the moments when we need a little extra support. 🫶

After all the fun of our Halloween party, today’s group chat was a beautiful reminder of what community is all about. We celebrate the happy moments, make space for the harder ones, and remind each other that we’re never alone.🫶🏻

So grateful for this inclusive community where everyone has a place to belong, a voice to be heard, and people who genuinely care. Because life brings both joy and pain, and it’s so much better when we walk through it together.🥰🤗🎃

Our BYL Halloween party was filled with fun, laughter, and wonderful memories! Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. ❤️

A BIG thank-you to Danby’s for letting us use your upstairs space, and to your amazing staff for being so patient and kind with us. The food was delicious as always! 🍽️😊

🍲👩‍🍳 Heather did an amazing job making beef stir-fry with veggies and peppers in cooking class! ❤️

But this class was about more than cooking. With a big move happening this weekend, we dedicated “Brave” to Heather as a reminder that she is strong, courageous, and surrounded by so much love and support. We also dedicated this beautiful song to our friend Sarah. 🫶

Change can be hard for all of us, but sometimes we need a little reminder of just how brave we really are. Heather, we are so proud of you and cheering you on as you take this exciting next step! 🤗💕
