You realize that from the beginningless beginning you have been complete and whole as you are. And this supreme truth is the most difficult for us to swallow. There is nothing to be attained. #dennisgenpomerzel

The third limb is asana (posture, seat) - usually our first introduction to the practice of yoga. This week find a little time each day to lay in savasana, maybe it’s after a class ... maybe it’s before dinner. Reflect on what it means that we have nothing to attain. Feel free to do a little journaling and see what comes up!

Last nights class with hearts and eyes open we moved through a practice of svadhyaya (self-study).

“Know yourself so well that you will grow into your wholeness and greatness.” Realizing our conditioning and disharmony, practising our ability to be a witness ...trace it back and unpack! Unwrap your wrapping!

This weeks home practice:
Grow the power of your witness by watching all your actions and thoughts as if you were watching a movie. Begin to experience yourself as “supreme strength, the fullness of wisdom, unquenchable joy.”

Tapas (self-discipline) “the acceptance of those pains that lead to purification.” #swamisatchidananda

The third niyama ‘tap’ = ‘to burn’ ... tapas teaches us to meet each challenge and discomfort with fierce love, fuelling our willpower and changing our response to adversity and struggle. Burning away impurities of thought leads to greater self trust, raising the bar of our intention to better serve the greater whole.

Daily practice (homework 😘): this week practice staying “one minute more” in whatever unpleasantness presents itself to you. Can you stand the heat of unpleasantness? Can you let the heat begin to burn away your judgments, opinions and expectations? #deborahadele

Cleansing the body, mind and our speech. External, internal and environmental... think about the ways you can reroute negative thought patterns into more positive ones. Find the purity in each moment... as it is. Taste it!

Saucha homework:
This week notice where your body is sluggish. Begin to purify yourself through diet and exercise (and the space around you if that is making you sluggish). Notice how the sluggishness becomes lighter as you purify. Notice the difference between the external process of cleansing and the internal process of purifying. #deborahadele

Krishna Das makes the observation that in our country we have a muscle in the mind that we forget is there. He calls it the “letting go” muscle. Krishna Das says we have developed a strong “holding on” muscle in the mind, but the “letting go” muscle is undeveloped. He suggests we get our mind in shape by using this muscle more often, practicing with little things so we are prepared when the bigger things come along. This week notice when you cling to experiences, emotions, thoughts, habits and beliefs. Then give your “letting go” muscle some exercise and begin to let go.

Our Story

Meditation became a practice of mine at an early age (without even knowing it). Something that paused time and calmed me through breath and stillness. Naturally, this practice grew into the physical form of yoga igniting a sense of discovery and uncovering a whole new world for me. I have trained with YogaFit Canada since 2012 taking me to various offerings in Ontario. I have had the honour of meeting and being guided by some of the most beautiful people and loving hearts. This experience extended my search for critical knowledge of anatomy, history and the capacity to build deeper connection to my surroundings and the people in my life.
