Deciding On A G-Tube
Many children and adults with complex medical conditions may require a G-Tube or a G-J Tube at some point. This may be for short term use through an acute illness or to support nutritional needs and airway protection over a longer period of time. For children or adults on positive pressure ventilation (invasive or noninvasive) the ability to "vent", pardon the RT perspective, can relieve the discomfort of ongoing gastric insufflation and allow for better ventilation (of the lungs, not the tummy!).
