A little professional development news I’m excited to share! 🌱

I recently completed additional facilitator training through Opening Minds and am now certified to facilitate:

• Mental Health First Aid - Supporting Youth
• Mental Health First Aid - Supporting Older Adults

Mental health challenges can affect us at every age, but how they show up - and how we offer meaningful support - can look very different throughout our lives. 💚

These new certifications build on my work in mental health literacy and allow me to bring practical, evidence-based Mental Health First Aid training to even more communities, organizations, families, and workplaces.

From supporting young people as they navigate the challenges of growing up to recognizing the unique mental health needs of older adults, the goal remains the same: helping people feel more confident recognizing when someone may be struggling, starting a conversation, and connecting them with appropriate support.

I’m looking forward to adding these programs to the training offered through Prairie Willow Wellness Training and continuing to bring accessible mental health education to communities across the Prairies and beyond.

Would one of these programs benefit your workplace, organization, or community? Let’s connect. I’d be happy to talk about bringing Mental Health First Aid training directly to you - in your workplace, your community, or your virtual space.

Because people helping people can make a difference. 💚

Small Business Week began, well, Monday… and I’m only a couple of days late. That feels appropriately small-business-ish. 😄

Running a small business means wearing ALL the hats - facilitator, marketer, bookkeeper, social media person, tech support, delivery driver…and occasionally the person wondering, “What exactly am I doing?” 😂

But it also means getting to take an idea you believe in and slowly turn it into something real.

Prairie Willow Wellness Training started with a pretty simple goal: to bring practical, meaningful mental health literacy training and events to workplaces and communities - particularly those outside the big city centres.

Every registration, referral, shared post, introduction, encouraging word and organization that has trusted me to work with their team has helped this little business grow.

And during Small Business Week, I especially want to say THANK YOU to my all of you! Followers, friends and family - the people who have cheered from the sidelines, shared my posts, encouraged me, connected me with others and believed in what I’m trying to build. 💚

You may not realize it, but every like, share, comment, referral and “you’ve got this!” helps. It all matters.

Small business really does have big dreams - and behind those dreams are a whole lot of people cheering them on.

Here’s to all the other small-business owners out there figuring it out as we go. I see you. I’m cheering for you, too. 🌱

🌿 Wellness Wednesday: Sometimes wellness looks like doing less.

Apparently, I brought home more than knowledge from my trip to Calgary for the Working Stronger Conference! 🤧

This week, we’ve had to practise what we encourage and make the difficult decision to cancel two trainings - something we never like to do. 📆

We talk a lot about listening to our bodies, recognizing when we need a break and taking care of our well-being. Sometimes that means cancelling plans, drinking the tea, taking the nap and letting the to-do list wait.

Because pushing through isn’t always the best choice - for ourselves or for those around us.

Rest isn’t something we need to earn. Sometimes it’s simply what our body needs to recover. 💚

So, this Wellness Wednesday, here’s your reminder (and mine!): Listen to your body. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is rest.

We understand the importance of hearing the experiences of those with lived and living experience. It is the stories people remember and how we can collectively work towards ending stigma 💚

🌍 World Mental Health Day | October 10, 2026

This year’s theme is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.”

People with lived experience bring insight that cannot be gained through professional training or research alone. Their voices can identify barriers, challenge stigma and help shape services that reflect what people and communities genuinely need.

Meaningful engagement goes beyond inviting someone to share their story. It means listening, valuing their knowledge and including them in the decisions that affect their lives.

At MDAM, we recognize the strength of peer-led support and the importance of creating services with people—not simply for them.

When lived experiences are heard, real and lasting change becomes possible. 💙
