A gentle practice for tonight, the first night of Mercury retrograde.

Light a candle. Take out something unfinished, a letter, a journal, a project your heart set down. You do not have to finish it tonight. Just look at it with fresh eyes and ask, is this still mine to carry?

Retrograde seasons bring things back because some of them were always meant to return to us, and some are coming back so we can finally let them go.

Today Venus completes her rose.

For eight years she has been tracing a five petalled flower of light around the Earth, and today, as she passes between us and the Sun, the final petal closes.

Venus rules love, beauty, and what we hold dear. As she begins again, so can we.

Sit with this question today, loves: what did I believe about love eight years ago that I no longer believe now?

Good morning, loves. Today Mercury turns retrograde, and he will be walking backward until November 13.

Please do not be afraid of him. Mercury retrograde is not here to ruin your life. He is here to slow you down long enough to notice what you have been rushing past.

For the next three weeks, the invitation is simple. Reread before you send. Recheck before you sign. Rest before you decide.

The Hunter's Moon is almost here, loves, and I am already feeling her pull.

She peaks Sunday night, October 25, at 9:12 PM our time, and she will look full all weekend. Here is how I am preparing, if you would like to join me.

Moon water. Fill a clean jar with water, speak your intention into it, and set it where the moonlight can find it on Sunday night. Bring it in before the sun rises. Sip it, water your plants with it, or pour a little into your bath.

Releasing. Write down what you are ready to set down, an old hurt, a worry, a pattern that no longer serves you. Read it to the moon, thank it for what it taught you, and burn or bury it safely.

Inviting. On a fresh page, write what you are calling in for the winter ahead. Read it out loud to her. The moon loves to be talked to, I promise you that.

Then just stand outside with her a while. No phone, no rush. Some of the deepest prayer is simply breathing in the moonlight.

Something beautiful is unfolding in the sky, loves.

On October 24, Venus passes between Earth and the Sun, at the heart of her retrograde. That same day, Mercury turns retrograde too.

Over eight years, Venus traces a five petalled rose of light around the Earth. Five journeys, five petals, one flower. This pass completes the rose she began in 2018. The ancient Greeks believed she was two different stars, one of the morning and one of the evening, before they understood she was one light all along.

Venus retrograde, October 3 to November 14, asks us to look again at love and what we truly value. Mercury retrograde, October 24 to November 13, invites us to slow down, reread, and leave room for the redo.

So breathe before the big contract. Wait on the dramatic haircut. And if a "hey stranger" lights up your phone, smile, take a breath, and listen to your heart before you answer.

This is not a season to fear, loves. It is a season to listen inward and let the rose complete itself.
