Switch Build at Agility Innovation Zone

Just when you thought there wasn't more uses for the Light Touch Switch...

You can use them with a phone / tablet or an AAC (Communication) system!
Note: it doesn’t plug straight into the phone without an adapter like a Swiftly https://www.bridges-canada.com/products/swifty

One switch could be “next item” and one switch could be “click”, so someone could scroll through the items.

Do YOU know someone who could benefit from one of the switches we are building on Thursday (Nov. 21st)? Send us a private message through our page!

Spots are still available...visit: tiny.cc/UofL and register today. This is a free event, no experience necessary!

What else can you do with a Light Touch Switch?

Adaptive Video Gaming!

If you think of your controller, it is essentially a couple of joysticks and a bunch of buttons. You can use these switches for setting up custom controllers easily with the XBOX Adaptive Controller.

Along the back of the device, you can plug in a number of assistive switches to map any of the controller inputs, so perhaps they are pushing the buttons on a lap tray, or on their wheelchair headrest, etc.

Switch Adapting A Battery-Operated Toy - A Hack - Makers Making Change

What can you do with a Light Touch Switch?

You can 'hack' a toy so that a child with a severe disability can access the control button or switch. Some examples include:

- Teddy bear when you squeeze it's paw to play a song.
- A remote control car with buttons to get it to move.

What toy can you think of to 'hack'?
