Eat these foods. Whole foods are best.

Keeping your hormones balanced can have a profound effect on your physical and emotional health, so here are some of my recommendations...

Always go organic ✅
Pesticides are a major contributor to estrogen dominance. Estrogen and progesterone have an inverse relationship: when estrogen goes high, it forces progesterone to go low and vice-versa. Be sure to always choose organic foods when possible.

Raw foods have more nutrients ✅
With nuts, seeds, and vegetables, it’s best to consume them raw. Once you cook them, you begin to break down the nutrients, making them less available for progesterone production.

Grass-fed hormone-free meats are best ✅
The meat from grass-fed animals contains more of the essential fatty acids that help make progesterone. Essential fatty acids include Omega-3, 6, and 9. Meats that are not organic will contain antibiotics and hormones that will add to estrogen dominance and low progesterone.

BEYOND WEIGHT LOSS

The more knowledge you have about the benefits of fasting, the more power you have to stick with it when it gets challenging!

Here are just a few ways your body shifts towards health when you take food out of the equation.

1. Ketosis - Because no glucose is coming into the body, your liver begins to burn fat and produce ketones for energy. This can happen in as little as 13 hours of fasting! Ketone levels generally increase the longer you fast.

2. Autophagy - Starting at 17 hours and spiking at 72 hours, autophagy cleans up the cell by recycling old proteins and "eating" toxins. This has positive implications for many diseases.

3. Stem Cells - At 24 hours, intestinal stem cells spike. Around 3-5 days, overall body stem cells increase. These are cells that can go wherever they're needed to repair any tissue.

4. Balance Blood Sugar - After as little as 13 hours, blood sugar begins to lower, allowing your body to stop producing insulin. This helps the cells re-sensitize to insulin, and is great news for type 2 diabetes.

5. Microbiome Reset - The bacteria on and in your body plays an essential role in overall health. There are good bacteria and bad bacteria. Fasting helps kill off the bad bacteria (like candida) in order to make more room for the good guys to flourish.

6. DNA Reset - The fact that genes can turn on and off in response to environmental changes is an exciting new area of health and science. Fasting helps "turn off" genes for obesity, cancer, and more.

7. Trust - Your body is not just a mindless meat sack. It possesses incredible intelligence! Fasting allows your body to tune into itself, and opens up a mindset of trust and security. If you trust what your body is telling you, you are capable of profound healing.

There are so many more reasons to fast!

Mindset reset, lower blood pressure, improve memory, lower inflammation, increase confidence, deepen body awareness, discover trigger foods...

Less than 24 hours left of my 7 day fast. My numbers are fantastic. My blood sugar is normalizing at 3.4. Today I felt great and all my energy is returned. I honestly feel like I can keep going but I miss eating. My fast is complete at 5:15 pm. To break my fast I will have 3 peices of bacon, then at 6:00 I will have a meal of a 6oz grass fed steak, mushrooms and a spinach & feta salad.

Journey into Keto

Hello.. I’m Teresa. I started this journey into the Low Carb and Keto lifestyle back in 2015 at the end of August. I was feeling OK, but like so many, I didn’t know what feeling good actually felt like. I was 46 years old, 35 lbs over weight, tired, my brain was very foggy and I couldn’t remember things and my abdomen was always sore and bloated. And then there is my son Brian. He is a very big part of my story. Brian started Keto with me at the age of 25. My son Brian is very special. He has Ducheenes Muscular Dystrophy and lives full time in a power wheelchair. He has been taking cortisol steroids for 20 years and also takes a few heart meds. Brian was also 25 lbs overweight and it was getting to difficult for myself and his caregivers to maneuver him to take care of his personal needs. I was worried at his weight gain over time as he was slowly getting heavier. This could cause extra stress on his heart, on his breathing and on his movement and also on our ability to keep him at home.

This is a story of myself and my 28 year old son who lives in a wheelchair. I am 5'1" tall and I have always been about 30lbs over weight. Doesn't seem like much but I was heading for metabolic disease. I was tired, foggy and just not feeling well. Most likely prediabetic. I complained to my doctor and he just said to get more sleep. There was no help from my doctor for the way I was feeling so I just carried on. My son living in his wheelchair was also gaining weight. He has DMD and has been taking steroids all his life. But he also was on a crash course to obesity and diabetes. Just over 3 years ago we were faced with Brian's weight problem. He was getting to heavy and I was having problems moving him and helping him. I was worried he would have to move out of my care and into a group home. This would have been devastating. Things had to change our lifestyle had to change. So... we did it.. the losses were to great otherwise. I did research and found the low carb/ketogenic lifestyle. This was it. Something to try. So both my son and I embarked on this journey of no sugar and other carbohydrates, moderate protein and high fat. It was difficult to drop all the foods that are highly addictive and stick to a whole foods diet of healthy fats, meat and low carb vegetables. But we did and there was no going back. Now, 3 years later, we still continue this lifestyle. I have lost my 30 lbs, I have energy, I sleep better, my brain is clearer, my gut is no longer bloated and sore and I feel the best I have ever felt. I will be 50 in a few months. My son.. well.. he lost 25 lbs. He is now at a normal weight for his small 4'8" frame. No longer difficult to care for. His blood pressure and heart have stabilized and his meds have not needed to be increased. We can't cure him but his quality of life is substantially better. I know mine is.. The western diet was slowly taking our lives. Spiraling into a life of misery, pain and medication. We have stopped it with our journey into the low carb/ketogenic lifestyle which is based on whole foods and no sugar.
