On this let's look a little closer into the vision of dogs...

Dogs cannot see objects as well as humans. Normal human vision is 20/20. Most dogs have a visual acuity of 20/75, meaning a dog has to be 20 feet away to see an object as well as a person can see at 75 feet away. Labrador Retrievers, which are a breed commonly used as seeing-eye dogs for humans, have better eyesight that is closer to 20/20. 🐾

High blood pressure in the body can affect your vision. Does this apply to you? Another reason to make sure you get your full eye exams done. Here are some ways below to help manage it!

Dr. Deom suggests several nonpharmacological interventions for preventing or treating hypertension, including:

"Weight loss. Expect about 1 mm Hg for every 1 kg reduction in body weight among hypertensive individuals.
Healthy diet. Eating healthy can lower SBP by as much as 11 mm Hg in hypertensive individuals.
Reduced sodium intake. Reducing by 1,000 mg/day can lower SBP by 5-6 mm Hg in hypertensive individuals.
Enhance dietary potassium intake. 3,500-5,000 mg/day can lower SBP by 4-5 mm Hg in hypertensive individuals.
Physical activity. Increased daily exercise can lower SBP anywhere from 4-8 mm Hg in hypertensive individuals.
Limit alcohol intake. Reducing alcohol to less than 2 drinks daily can lower SBP by 4 mm Hg in hypertensive individuals."

Age related macular degeneration is a serious condition in the eye that leads to blindness if left untreated or unmanaged. Approximately 1.4 million Canadians are affected to date!

"The CDC, WHO and American Heart Association all recommend 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise per week. That’s equivalent to about 30 minutes per day, 5 days per week."

Exercise for 30 minutes a day is a better than dealing with blindness. Everyone get moving!
