Weight bias and weight stigma can lead to weight discrimination.

Weight stigma is the social stereotypes and misconceptions about obesity which includes beliefs that people with obesity are awkward, lazy, non-compliant, sloppy, unsuccessful, untelligent and lacking self-discipline or self-control.

Individuals experiencing weight bias can have negative consequences such as anxiety, depression, feelings of shame/blame, poor self-esteem and/or body dissatisfaction. These negative feelings can lead to unhealthy weight-control practices.

Weight Discrimnation is when we enact our personal biases and the social stereotypes about obesity and treat people with obesity unfairly.

Stigma and weight discrimination can be a barrier to weight management!

Did you know that unsweetened Lassi is a good source of protein?

Choosing snacks that contain protein and fibre helps you avoid being too hungry for your next meal and eating more than you need to.

I made mine with 3/4 cup unflavoured Greek yogurt and 1/4 cup water. For flavour I added 2tbsp mango and 1 drop of artificial sweetener!

Enjoy your lassi with 1 cup frozen mixed berries for a satiating summer snack!

While trying to manage weight, a healthy eating plan is very important for our overall health. Focus on reducing calories by:
1. Improving daily eating patterns
2. Watching portion sizes
3. Eating balanced & nutritious meals

Having said that, it is also important to find a plan that fits into your daily life and that you ENJOY over the long term to sustain healthy eating habits.
All foods including treats and sweets can fit into an overall balanced diet.
Yes, some foods offer more nutrients than others.
However, when we deprive ourselves of the foods we love, we often end up craving and even eating more of these foods at some point!
The key is to be mindful of HOW MUCH and HOW OFTEN we choose to eat the foods that may not offer many nutrients compared to some other foods. There is no need to eliminate them from your diet.
Here’s how we like to include our dessert:
Fruit Parfait with Light Whipped cream
Ingredients: ½ cup mandarin oranges, ½ cup pineapple, 4tbsp light whipped cream.
