As a baby tech who graduated in 2022 at the ripe age of 40, I never thought or expected I would end up struggling this much to work in this field. I graduated with great grades and even passed the VTNE on my first try. I was successful in school and was sure that I would be in the field as well. Well, I was wrong. I learned that this type of work is extremely demanding and there is no room for errors. You have to be 100% okay otherwise mistakes will happen! Anesthesia is scary stuff but very cool at the same time.
Anyways, all of my hard work and dedication to the field for the past 5 years, and literally a dream come true, is now becoming a daily challenge with my recent diagnosis.
Deep down I knew I was different and I learned to accept myself the way I am. This is me and life is hard, that’s just normal and everyone has their own struggles in life. But then when you think you have it all together, you end up burning out from trying so hard to do the very thing you worked so hard for and feel all this guilt and shame and think that something must be wrong with me. I hope I can find my ways of coping. I’m a work in progress and want to use this ADHD to my advantage 💪🏼
