❓Welcome to the first of our new Q&A series, where we will answer some of the most frequently asked questions !
Q: How long does it take to recover from an eating disorder?
A: Recovery from an eating disorder is unique for each person, and there’s no set timeline. It may look like and mean something different to each person.
💖 For some, recovery can take months, while for others, it may take years. Healing is non-linear, meaning there will be ups and downs along the way. Every person’s experience is different, and important to remember that it's okay to move at your own pace. Be patient and kind to yourself—recovery is possible even if it does not feel like it right now.

🤔 Ever wonder how we integrate different therapeutic modalities in our counselling sessions ?
👩💼 In this reel, our dietitian Stefanie demonstrates how we integrate IFS, ACT, and DBT into our nutrition sessions to help clients process emotions, develop coping skills, and rebuild a compassionate relationship with food, all in a safe, trauma-informed environment.
Here’s how we integrate different therapeutic approaches with care and compassion:
✨ Internal Family Systems (IFS): IFS helps you explore the different “parts” of yourself—like the part that struggles with self-criticism or the part that longs for healing. We gently work to understand and heal these parts, allowing you to reconnect with your true self and cultivate compassion for all aspects of who you are.
🌱 Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): ACT encourages you to accept difficult thoughts and feelings without judgment, empowering you to take mindful actions toward your values. In our work together, ACT helps you navigate emotional triggers around food and body image while staying focused on what truly matters to you in recovery.
⚖️ Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): DBT teaches practical skills to manage overwhelming emotions and develop healthier coping mechanisms. We help you build emotional resilience, using mindfulness and distress tolerance techniques to find balance in your eating habits and daily life, even when things feel challenging.
❤️🩹 All of these approaches are trauma-informed, meaning we recognize and honor the experiences that may have contributed to your eating disorder. Our goal is to support you in a safe, empathetic space where you can heal at your own pace, rebuild trust in yourself, and develop a more peaceful relationship with food, your body, and your emotions
