What a wonderful walk last night on the Cataraqui Trail in Sydenham with the RFLA Allied Health Team hiking group. We walked 6.4 km along the lake while enjoying the beautiful fall colours (even the drive to get there from Napanee was stunning!). We knew we'd have to finish the hike in the dark so we brought head lamps and snapped some great photos as the sun set.
.
This month we have 3 more hikes planned. We have 2 longer hikes planned at the Sheffield Conservation area just north of the dark sky viewing area, as well as a hike at Charleston Lake provincial park.
.
We also have a Tuesday evening walk planned at the Fairgrounds in Napanee. We hope to work together to stay active as the days get shorter and weather gets cooler πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆπŸ₯ΆπŸ˜.

We need your help!
Our allied health team has many patients who are looking for recommendations for :
-
1) Personal trainers who can meet with the individual on a weekly basis at a local gym to bring them through a workout routine.
2) Group exercise classes currently running here in Napanee.
-
It would be very helpful if you could post to the comments the websites/contact information for trainers and classes that are currently looking to take on new members.

Today the RFLA hiking group headed out to Frontenac Park to hike Doe Lake and Arab Gorge trail. We hiked about 6 km and averaged about 3 km per hour on the trail (the trail is rated as moderate and there are quite a few ups and downs along the way, as well as many rocks and roots).
.
We have some easier hikes planned coming up, as well as some longer/faster hikes in the works for October, November and December.
.
We would love to welcome new hikers to our group. Whether you are a slower walker, unfamiliar with hiking etiquette, or a regular hiker looking for a social group to head into the woods with, we are happy to have you join us.

Nice hike this morning with the RFLA hiking group to Parrott's Bay conservation area near Amherstview. 9 of us hiked a 5 km loop around the trails and enjoyed some cooler weather then we've had over the past week 🌞
.
We were very surprised to find an old car out in the woods!
.
We've got hikes to Frontenac Park and Sheffield Conservation area coming up in September, just in time for the fall colours πŸπŸ‚πŸŒΏ.
.
Also- we are starting to plan for activities over the winter and into next year. I hope to be able to offer hikes for absolute beginners (1-2 km walks), as well as some more advanced hikes for people ready to tackle 5-10 km's, in addition to the not technical 5 km walks we've been offering. We are also thinking of incorporating other types of activities like snowshoeing, paddling, and biking! I would love to hear your ideas and interests. Please comment below or send us a message here on Facebook or email [email protected]

Fantastic hike to Rock Dunder on Monday for the RFLA Hiking group. This was our first more challenging hike of the year. Unfortunately I added this hike to our schedule just on Friday so there were only a few people that could make it out on short notice- so I think we will have to do it again in the fall with all the beautiful fall colours.

Lennox & Addington 2021 Back To School Campaign

Families throughout Lennox & Addington in need of support with back to school supplies for school aged children please contact the Napanee Salvation Army to register. Phone number can be located on the attached poster.

If you are a community member able to help with this years campaign the Napanee Salvation Army is also taking donations. For more information please see poster. Your donation stays in Lennox & Addington and directly supports children and youth attending school this fall.

Thank you everyone :)

Even though it seems like summer vacation just started, we're busy working on our Back-to-School Backpack Program. In partnership with The Napanee Area Community Health Centre, we provide backpacks and grade-appropriate school supplies to the children whose families are unable to afford the back-to-school essentials kids need to succeed in school. This program helps school-age kids in Lennox & Addington schools from Amherstview in the south to NAEC in the north.

We are still accepting registrations for the program as well as donations to the program. Financial donations of $20 or more will receive a charitable tax-receipt. Online donations to our office can be made by following this link: https://qrgo.page.link/Z2W8v . Registration and donation information is in the poster below.

We'd also appreciate it if you could share this post to help spread the word. Thanks for helping us help local children in need. Helping kids get a good education is one of the best ways that we can help them escape a life of poverty.
